Catch the book

You lean slightly in an attempt to catch the book. However, in the process, both yours and Doe's hands push together against the book, resulting in a blinding flash of light.

You notice that the sounds around you have changed. The temperature is a bit cooler and the sky a little darker. You also realize that you are still engaged in a mouth-locking kiss with Doe.

"Hey, Doe! You haven't changed into a mouse or a bird or some creature! You're still you, except for your clothes." You excitedly say.

"I've never known this could happen. It's relieving not to be constrained in the body of some animal. Thanks. " She says, as she kisses you lightly on the lips. "Let's proceed to that brick building. That must be the orphanage."

You're not sure whether that's the right thing to do, but you see Doe proceeding towards the entrance of the structure.
