Cassidy comes over for a chat

“Probably for you, you can get it,” Matt told Mark as he laid on his bed, flipping through the pages of an old comic book from home.

Mark got up to get the door. He wasn’t expecting anyone at this hour, it was Saturday Night in lockdown, there wasn’t a whole lot of people it could be coming to check on him.

Opening it up, he was pleasantly surprised to Cassidy standing there. Her brown hair straightened as usual, standing in what was her work uniform.

“Hi Mark,” she said with a smile.

Matt instantly sat up in his bed when he heard that voice.

“Cassidy, it’s good to see you,” Mark replied, “What can we do for you.”

“Well… I’ve got something for Matt,” she said, looking over Mark’s shoulder to see him now standing there awkwardly, “I believe this is yours?”

She was holding up a textbook in front of him, “You left this at the cafe.”

Cassidy was still working at the cafe on campus and Mark instantly began to wonder if Matt actually left it there by ‘accident’ or if it was done on purpose so she would come here.”

“Ohhh umm yes,” he replied, “Please come on in.”

Cassidy did so, with a little reluctancy, passing Matt the book once inside.

“You can sit down, if you like,” Mark told her, taking a seat himself, “Been hard to catch up with people when we’re locked down all the time.”

“That’s true, been tough hasn’t it,” she said, taking a seat too.

There was a certain tense awkwardness in the room but Mark didn’t want to hang around any longer so he spoke up, “Soooo… addressing the elephant in the room… yes, this is the first time all three of us have been together alone in a room since what happened two years ago.”

“But we shouldn’t make a big deal about it, we’ve all had different partners, slept with different people since, long time ago,” he continued.

“I guess your right Mark,” Cassidy replied, “I just came over to drop off this book off so I won’t stay too long.”

He felt like there was just as much of a reason for Cassidy to bring back the book as there was for Matt to leave it there. At this time of the evening, it felt like she wanted to be coming over to see him.

“So when did you guys move back in together?” she asked then, “Bit of a surprise to see.”

“He offered it to me before the break and I asked Matt the other day about it cause I was going to strangle Dale if I was in there any longer with him,” Mark explained.

“Maybe we can all catch a movie together or something soon?” Matt suggested.

Cassidy looked a little uneasy about it, “Maybe, umm I don’t know, I would have to see.”

While they awkwardly talked together, the first time the three had been all together in a long time, Mark pulled out his phone, feeling a text message buzz in his pocket.

His body shook when he saw who it was from.

Jess: Where r u? I’m horny…

Mark quickly texted back, “Give me 2 minutes.”

“Uhhh You know what guys, I just forgot I hadn’t done something,” he said, standing up, “I umm uhh, yeah… I’ll talk to you guys later.”

Both Cassidy and Matt let him leave, leaving them alone in the room together.
