Can't let him find out it's you!

You still have no clue what's actually happening, and you're still not ready to try convincing anyone about who you really are. It's still best if you just let everyone think you're some random girl who happens to know John. Yeah.

So you quickly tap out a response to Brian's text. "I'm not there. It's for the girl. Tight little blonde in jean shorts. I need you to help her out. Sorry for the confusion. I'll owe you one."

You have to roll your eyes at your own words. Describing yourself as a 'tight little blonde,' seems a bit weird, but you want to sell it to Brian, who everyone knows is a notorious girl-chaser and he always talks about women like that. You haven't even sent it yet and he's already obviously checking you out from inside his car.

You ignore him, send the text, and then keep scrolling on your phone while pretending to have no idea he's staring at you.

He responds, "Who is she? Your girlfriend? Because no way you pulled that baddie. How much are you paying her?"

"Very funny." You try to recall the story you told your sister. No way he'd believe you've had a smoking hot secret girlfriend all this time without mentioning her. "I met her last night, she stayed over. Just needs a ride."

Your finger hovers over the send button when you realize you have no idea where to get a ride to. You have nowhere to even go. You're functionally homeless. Fuuuuck.

So you change the message to read, "Very funny. No, I just met her last night. She seems to need help."

No response. Brian emerges from his car and approaches with a smile. You can't help but notice that it's a very charming smile. "Hey, hi. I'm John's friend; he told me to meet you here. Need a lift?" He reaches a hand in greeting. "My name is Brian. What's yours?"

Disarmed by just how handsome your friend is, you place your slender hand in his much larger hand. "John..." you start, realizing you can't give John as your name. Panicking, you try to pivot gracefully. "...didn't tell me his friend was so cute. My name is Ashley." You feel so stupid flirting with Brian, but it just sort of slips out in your desperation to cover for saying John. You convince yourself it's because Brian's a sucker for a pretty girl and it's the easiest way to really commit him to helping you.

Brian smiles. "Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Come on," he gently pulls you by the hand towards his car and your feet move on their own to follow him. "I'll take you wherever you're going."

"Just drive, please," you say, as he opens the passenger door for you. You're still unsure where you need or even want to go; you just want to get away. You're still in a bit of panic after waking up as a girl, in the first place; you're not really planning any of this out.

So you climb into the passenger seat of Brian's car and he pulls away from the gas station towards the highway.
