Camp Fire
When the music stopped playing, people began leaving the dance floor. Everyone gathered outside near the fire pit. Most of the men were smoking cigars and joking about their high school days. Some of the girls sat together laughing. Others mingled among the crowd. Amy found Ken and they sat on a bench next to each other. He threw the blanket over her and she cuddled up to him.
"Thank you for doing this," Ken said. Amy stared into the fire.
"You shouldn't have lied Ken," Amy said, "You blew your chance with Marissa or any other girl here. This could have been the start of something good for you."
"I know, I know, I've been thinking that a lot," Ken looked glum. "I stopped one embarrassment and screwed everything up. Amy gave him a pat on the arm.
"There will be more weddings you idiot," Amy reassured him.
