Calvin, a high school senior turned Neko

Calin stirred under his sheets as he slowly woke up. He couldn't understand why he suddenly felt so warm. He rubbed his eyes to see better but stopped when he felt soft fur against his eyelids and hands. Slowly pulling his hands away, he saw that they had become completely covered in black fur; the same color as his hair.

He checked his entire body; his chest, his legs, even his waist and groin. Everything was covered in black fur. His fingernails had become sharper, like claws. In shock, he patted his face and felt that his head had the same fur all over it. When he got to his ears, he momentarily stopped as he realized they had vanished. He reached upward and felt two large ears on the top of his head.

"What the fuck?!" Calvin whispered to himself. "No. No, no, no, no, no. This has got to be some kind of dream. No more late-night anime."

His phone was on the nightstand next to him. He reached over and turned on the camera, trying to see an image of himself. An anthropomorphic cat stared back at him. Calvin shut his eyes and tried to will himself out of this dream, but nothing happened. Out of curiosity, he decided to open the news up to see if there was a chemical spill or **** planted into his city's water supply.

The news was running several headlines about an unexplained phenomenon all over the world. People like him were waking up to find themselves having transformed into creatures or gaining monster-like abilities. Reports were flooding in including military officers becoming Orcs, astronauts appearing like Gray Aliens, and his local blood bank employees sprouting fangs and drinking their own supply like Vampires.

Even animals and plants were being affected. A local farmhand described his favorite bull growing a human body and becoming a Minotaur right before his eyes. A gardener claimed a tulip in his backyard grew into a purple-skinned Dryad.

What the hell was going on?
