Call across the sea

Ducking into a corner, Rabiah dug into her purse and grabbed her phone out.

"Here goes nothing." she thought, dialing the number in. Nothing. "Oh right."

Sliding her finger down, she turned Airplane Mode off. Which she had turned off just before the plane had taken off. Taking a deep breath, she dialed the number back in.

One ring. Normal phone stuff.

Two Rings. Maybe Aicha was asleep. Perfectly normal considering the time difference between here and Saudia Arabia to begin with.

"Hello sweetie."

Breathing a sigh of relief, Rabiah nearly dropped the phone. Thankfully, she had picked it up in time and brought it back up to her ear. It felt good to hear her again.

"Of course, dear." she remarked, cheeks rosy red at the moment. For better or worse, Aicha had the way of doing that to her. "I'm sorry if I woke you up."

Aicha chuckled.

"Don't worry about it." she answered, a thought coming to her. "Any problems?"

Rabiah looked away. There wasn't really a good way to answer that. Sure, everyone had been nice to her so far. But what would happen when she exited the airport.

Yet, she took a deep breath. No use in fearing the possibilities.

"Not really." she answered. "How are things going on your end?"

A pause.

"Pretty good." Aicha remarked. "Lots of women here in Saudia Arabia."

Rabiah froze, taking a deep breath right after. The Muslim wasn't entirely sure why she had done that, but something about it seemed... right. Not at all flying in the face of logic from before.

"That sounds nice." she whispered, one more question coming to her. "Anything that you want me to get you from this part of the world?"

Aicha chuckled.

"Not at all." Aicha answered. "If I think of something, I'll call you."

"Sounds good. Love you."

With that, the pair hung up and Rabiah was off to baggage claim.
