Who do you choose?
Calia the Human mercenary
Calia let out a whoop when she finally rounded the bend and saw the towers of the great city of Kingsmare up ahead, urging her horse into a gallop, the long green scarf that kept her copper hair out of her eyes streaming behind her. Nearly two months she'd been on the road, either plodding along eating the dust of the caravan or on endless scouting missions and patrols, and she was more than ready for what civilization had too offer.
Reining in her horse near the gate, she waited a little impatiently for the heavy wagons to catch up. The eyes of the city guards were upon her. With her invitingly low cleavage and exposed midriff, form-fitting leather leggings and the weapons casually slung from her belt, she she looked every inch the female sellsword, and she just knew they were wondering if the stories they'd heard about women in her profession were true.
One of the guards was a young man about her age, attractive and well-muscled, and so she blew him a kiss, laughing a little as he turned away blushing. She wasn't seriously pursuing this one, but all the same, between the empty forest roads and the dusty little farm villages they'd mostly passed through the past few weeks, it had been far too long since she'd had a good fuck. Hell, at this point she'd even be happy to bend over for an Orc, though thankfully Kingsmare offered a great deal more options for those looking for a lover, and that was the first thing on her agenda once she got her pay.
The caravan was pulling in now, and at some point in the hustle and bustle of checking in the goods it carried, she found Renoc the caravan master by her side. He was a middle-aged man, well dressed, but not ostentatiously so, with green eyes and dirty blond hair starting to go a bit grey at the temples. She hadn't gotten to know him very well personally, but he'd been a decent boss during the trip. "Well Calia, I'll be sorry to see us part ways, but we're here, so thank you for fulfilling your contract. Here is your pay..." He counted out 38 small coins into her purse--the standard fee was one silver piece for every day on the road--then surprised her by adding two more. "Just a bit of a bonus, for your exemplary service," he added with a long look at her. "Though, I certainly wouldn't mind spending some more time with you in a more personal way..." he added, slipping a piece of paper in her hand. A quick glance revealed it to be the name and location of an inn. "Completely up to you, of course, I don't want you to feel obligated," he added hastily, before having his attention called away by a couple of the merchants they'd been escorting.
She hadn't expected the offer from him, as he'd been strictly professional throughout the entire trip, and so she looked after him thoughtfully, adding hm to the list of possibilities for later. Renoc was reasonably good looking, and reasonably wealthy as well...and if nothing else he could ensure she always had a job. Though she had an old acquaintance in this city who had always been a great deal of fun, if he hadn't been arrested in her absence.
Of course, in a city this size there were plenty of other options as well, men and women, human or otherwise...and attractive young woman dressed like she was pretty much couldn't fail to attract the right sort of attention SOMEWHERE. The last time she was here she'd come very close to having a drunken tumble in the hay with a minotaur, in fact...she wondered if ol' Trampler was still around, and if she'd be able to work up the courage to take on a monster that size this time.
Then again, her pay, even with the extra 'tip' she'd been given, wouldn't last her much longer than two weeks in this city. She supposed it would be sensible to start giving some thought to her next job as well. Guarding another caravan was always an option, sick of it as she was, though there was also bounty hunting (she knew a guard who in the past had been happy to give her tips on potential whereabouts of a few criminals in exchange for a bit of...oral encouragement), as well as a variety of more mundane tasks. The possibilities were boundless.
