CH3: Fighting Back

I run down the stairs and turn and see Esme and Hope close behind me. I shoot at them and make them take cover. I have to get back to the cafeteria. That’s the only way. I hurt myself while jumping over tables and knocking over chairs as I run. The two shout at me and shoot my way, eating at my health points with their shotgun shots. I feel like a pray animal with two hunters after me. My health is almost at a zero and I desperately dive under a table as the girls run my way.

Then I hear it and there’s more lasers. It’s submachine guns and pistols. I look behind me and see Vinora and Sofie taking shots at the Recreationists. “Dammit! I am almost done!” Esme screams and Hope seems to be stuck behind a pilar. “E-Esme! No! Run! I will hold them off!” Hope shoots at the girls while Esme starts running the opposite direction. I have to stop and heal myself in the middle of it all. “Don’t worry, Lilah! We got this!” Sofie and Vinora go from two directions while Hope tries to desperately shoot at both. “No, no, no! Ah fuck me!”

Hope makes a mad dash towards me as she screams, getting shot from all sides. Suddenly she doesn’t look so pretty anymore. I take aim and shoot her in the chest and she stumbles and hits the table I’m hiding behind. I aim at her as I see her motionless on the table with her eyes closed. Her bracelet is flashing red and the intercom turns on: “Hope was eliminated by Lilah.”. I look at the blonde and turn her around and check her breathing. She seems to be just fine. But her game is over. It makes me sad seeing her like this and I sit next to her and watch as my friends gather around me, even Tatiana.

“Gee… that was pretty intense. I almost died. Look, I lost like 13 HP.” Sofie shows her bracelet and the little red spot on her belly. “Ha ha, very funny. Look at my arm.” Vinora shows and she actually got hit a little bit harder. Nobody is looking at me though. I’m red all over. Good thing I had so many health usbs on me. I look at Hope one more time and leave her on the table for now. I get back into the kitchen and look at Tatiana carefully as she is staring.

“Oh wow, you really are the main character, aren’t ya?!” Sofie says and hugs me. She’s short enough that she can look up at me as she does that. I get a little blush. “Y-yeah… uhh… I mean, I just shot the last shot is all…” I say and the girls giggle and I feel Vinora hold my waist and I feel plenty unfamiliar and uncomfortable with all this attention.

“What the hell happened?” Tatiana breaks the moment and I sigh and explain. The girls listen and touch me weirdly and Tatiana retains eye contact and doesn’t seem to blink even once. “-and then I ran back here.” I end my explanation, leaving out the sex for obvious reasons. “Was Korina there? Lilah, I am going to be honest with you, I hate you.” Tatiana squints her eyes and stares at me and I feel bad. “I’m really sorry. No, she wasn’t there…” Sofie hugs me and it at least feels a little better.

“Hey, don’t mind her. She’s a stuck up old hag anyways.” Sofie says and I hope I couldn’t mind her. It’s just that I genuinely feel bad for what I did. It feels like everything bad that is happening has to do with me. Almost everyone here seems to hate me. And I still don’t know why Grace shot me in the shoulder. Tatiana turns back around and sighs: “But now, we should move. Esmeralda will be telling her friends where we are, so we better move. I know a place. It’s the old student council room… there’s a level 4 door… and I think one of us has access there.” Tatiana looks at me coldly and it’s true.
