Busy day

"Come on." Her mother took her by the hand. "You don't want to be late for your community service. Then you have to go to work, and that nice boy Kyle called and said he'd pick you up from work for your date tonight."

Lauren had forgotten her slate of unwanted tasks for the day, culminating in a date with a nerd she had no desire to go on! She was booked for the entire day, all with things she didn't want to do. She wanted to hide in her room and sulk, but her mother pulled her towards the front door.

"But mom, I don't even have shoes!" Lauren pointed out.

"Here, I found these in your old things." Her mother grabbed a pair of... jelly sandals? Lauren was amazed they even fit, though snugly. She slipped them on as she was yanked out the door. Struggling to keep up with her power walking mother Lauren was hauled to the car and buckled into the passenger seat, as though she couldn't put on a seat belt herself. Then her mother got behind the wheel and drove Lauren to face her day...
