What's Next

Bus and Utilities

Waiting for the bus took a minute, but I got to catch up on some reading while waiting at the bus stop. Yet finally the bus arrives and I get in. Whilst the bank was in walking distance for me, the offices used for all the utility companies were not. Fortunately they were all in town so it wasn't too much of a ride. Plus I qualify for a free bus pass so it wasn't exactly a waist of money to use it. On the bus there is a significant lack of people. However there are three notable riders besides the driver. One was a elderly man, he sat there quietly tapping his cane every so often. The next was a sleeping girl, she looked unperturbed but I chose to keep her in line of sight since there were about 5 more stops and people can be shady, especially on this side of town. The third was quite an unusual sight, a business woman, clean suit and all. She had no signs of daytime drinking or a rough night, and she sat quietly with her shoulders straight and her bag next to her, tapping her foot every so often and checking her watch. I happen to keep taking glances at her as each stop passed, out of pure curiosity at the sight. However I believe she took notice as the next thing to happen was for her to get up and approach me.

"I'm sorry to bother you, do you know how many stops to we reach the corner of Wilson and 1st?" She asked in a calm polite manner.

"Um, yeah actually I'm heading there right now and you got 5 more stops till we get off."

"Thank you, I've been trying to pay attention to signs but I'm new in town so I'm not so familiar with the area."

"No problem. I'm CJ, by the way"

"I'm Kat," she says extending out her hand for a handshake to which I return feeling a surprising amount of firmness in her grip.

"So what brings you here Kat?"

"I actually just relocated here for my job, I'm a lawyer by the way," guess I was off about her being a business woman, "I'm overseeing the legalities of the takeover of Scottsdale Electric with General Electric, but that can take months. Sorry by the way, I must be oversharing, you're just the first person I've really talked to since being here and here I am telling every detail of my life to a teenager, no offense by the way." Kat says.

"None taken, I guess," I respond politely and we continue talking during the rest of the ride, well Kat mostly, and I just smile and nod. Then we finally make it to our stop both of us getting off at the same time. I tell her I have to stop by a few places but I will be stopping by Scottsdale Electric and to look for me. We then part ways, not without Kat giving me her card for if I ever encounter legal troubles or "at least financial legal troubles" as she jokes. I then continue to stop and drop off the money at both the water and gas company, then head over to Scottsdale

Electric Company
