What does Shadow do?

Burst in through the Window

There was no time to hesitate, no time to second guess, Rouge could be in trouble and she was one of the few people he would call friend. He wasn't going to let this traitor hurt her, no matter what! He swung through the window, and before the glass would hit the floor he started to wail on the human in front of her. This had to be the traitor, Larry, as he started to punch him and and punch him and punch him, he started to lose counter as blood spattered on his gloves. He was going to hurt Rouge, how dare he!? He has no right to even be near him, this traitorous piece of gar... A voice pierced through his mind as Rouge shouted "Shadow, stop!"

In the midst of the chaotic confrontation, Shadow's fists pounded mercilessly upon Larry, fueled by a protective rage that threatened to consume him entirely. But in the instant that Rouge's voice pierced through his mind, commanding him to stop, a momentary pause descended upon the frenzied scene.

Shadow's **** halted abruptly, his gloved fists hovering mid-air, frozen in the tension of the moment. His eyes, once fierce and ablaze with fury, now reflected a mix of confusion and conflict. The weight of Rouge's words resonated deep within him, causing his resolve to waver.

As Rouge stepped forward, her presence both calming and persuasive, she interjected with an explanation, her voice tinged with empathy. "Larry is grieving right now," she began, her words infused with a hint of sadness. "He's not thinking straight."

The revelation struck a chord within Shadow, a recognition of the pain and turmoil that loss could inflict upon a person. He had endured his own share of sorrow, the echoes of which lingered within his very soul. The realization that Larry, the supposed traitor, was engulfed in the throes of grief sparked a momentary flicker of empathy within Shadow's hardened heart.

Rouge gestured towards a desk adorned with a distinctive green USB, emphasizing its significance. "That USB contains the information he was going to leak," she explained, her gaze fixed upon Shadow, beseeching him to understand. "Please, Shadow, Larry's a good guy. You, of all people, should know what loss does to a person."

A veil of silence enveloped the room, punctuating the weight of the situation. Shadow's expression softened, the anger slowly dissipating from his eyes, replaced by a flicker of introspection. He could sense the conflict within him, torn between the call of duty and the plea for compassion.

Compelled by an insatiable curiosity and a desire for understanding, Shadow posed a question that hung heavy in the air. "Who did he lose?" he inquired, his voice laced with a hint of solemnity, acknowledging the profound impact that loss could have on an individual's actions.

Larry, still recovering from the onslaught, managed to gather himself enough to respond, his voice tremulous with sorrow. "My sister," he uttered, the words laden with grief and regret. A flicker of vulnerability passed across his face, revealing the depths of his pain and the shattered pieces of his soul.

Shadow blinked, a flicker of recognition crossing his features. The revelation struck a chord within him, a reminder of his own past marked by profound loss. In that moment, he grappled with a decision that transcended his usual black-and-white worldview. On one hand, his mission loomed large, demanding justice and the protection of vital secrets. On the other hand, Rouge's plea and the acknowledgment of Larry's anguish tugged at the edges of his conscience.

A momentary pause enveloped the room, the tension palpable as Shadow wrestled with his choices. In the depths of his conflicted mind, a seed of understanding began to sprout, challenging the boundaries of his perception. The path he would ultimately choose remained uncertain, but one thing was clear—the decision he made would alter the course of this night, and perhaps even the lives entangled within its shadows.
