What does Celeste find?
Building a Box
You leave Celeste to her work. She locks herself in and after a full day you begin to worry. You knock on her door.
“Celeste, you need to eat and drink something.”
You hear giggling inside.
“Celeste, let me in.”
You hear the door click.
“I’m almost done, Morgan.” She giggles.
On the table is a three inch cube that looks like it’s made of bone.
“What are you building, Celeste?”
“It’s the craziest thing. It’s based on Greek mythology. Do you know Pandora’s box?”
“Yes, it was supposed to hold all the evil in the world.”
She giggles. “A mad alchemist actually designed a real working one.”
“It has evil in it?”
“No silly. You open it and all the evil in the world gets sucked in.”
“Why would the church not use this.”
“There are a couple of issues with it. It will suck all the evil in the world into it, even the evil from our hearts. It will change humanity.”
“Wouldn’t that be for the better.”
“Perhaps. But, there’s another catch. Whoever opens the box and sucks the evil in won’t be affected by the box. Indeed, they’ll be touched by all the evil, steeped in it and left as the only impure being left.”
“That sounds bad.”
“It probably is. Morgan, I think you should hold open it.”
“Why me?”
“I can’t. I know too much magic. You you’re innocent enough, it might not destroy you.”
“There has to be another way, Celeste.”
“I read the book, Morgan. It’s the only thing in there that can help us.”
“I need to think about this, Celeste.”
Will you use the box?
