Brooklyn van Slyke was a marketing major and the president of the Delta Pi Pi sorority. Her father was a plastic surgeon, and her mom did not work but was not your typical stay-at-home mom because instead of staying at home, she spent her days at the country club, spas, shopping, and dining with friends.

One day an ad for a free app appeared on a game she was playing on her phone. It was called the Would You Rather app, and the description said once every 12 hours, you'd get a new question giving you two options. She thought it sounded fun, so she downloaded it.

Nothing happened. That was Thursday evening.

Friday morning, she woke up to find the app had asked her a question.
