Brinda was only a single semester from graduating from college. She was studying supply chain management. With an SCM degree, Brinda hoped to establish a second Rebecca's store location. Turning the car ignition made Brinda's heart drop. The engined wasn't starting.

"Hey Katie, I was called in, but my car broke down. Can you please help me get to work?" Brinda asked.

"Yes!, I would love to! ... I mean ... sure no problem, I can do that for you," Katie said in a rush.

"Thanks, Katie, I am in your debt. I hear there is food at work. Maybe if you're not busy, you could come into the store and share a meal with me." Brinda said playfully.

At 12:20 PM, Brinda spotted Katie's car pull up. She jogged up and got in.

"Thanks again for the help, you are a lifesaver," Brinda said cheerfully.

"My pleasure, it's a good thing I live so close," Katie said pulling into traffic.

"Ya, I could easily walk to your place from mine. It is nice having a co-worker that also lives on campus." Brinda mused.

"Right! ... I mean ... ya you could," Katie said not looking away from the road.

After 15 minutes of awkward silence. Katie spoke up "it's too bad that Shannon got food poisoning."

"How do you know about Shannon's food poisoning?" Brinda said turning to face the redhead.

"Oh umm ... don't you remember, you said that Shannon called you because she was sick from breakfast," Katie said in a rush.

"I didn't say anything about Shannon," Brinda said staring at Katie.

"Sure you did. How else would I know?" Katie said smiling, not meeting Brindas eyes.

The car stopped at an intersection.

"What is going on?" Brinda said patting Katie's arm.

"You know something. How do you know Shannon has food poisoning. Did she call you first to ask for help?" Brinda asked.

"No, she didn't say that ... I mean she didn't call me," Katie said turning the car into a parking structure.

"Katie, something fishy is going on. If you tell me ... I will give you ... a kiss ... ," Brinda said seductively.

Katie turned red as she parked the car.

"Okay, but don't tell Shannon I told you. You need to stay surprised. Shannon called everyone into work today to celebrate your promotion to the new assistant store manager position." Katie said in a rush.

"I am getting a promotion?!" Brinda asked in surprise.

"That's what Shannon told me. She said to not talk with you. She asked you to run the store today and was lying about getting food poisoning. Also, the surprise celebration was getting catering." Katie said sheepishly.

"Fantastic! This is great. A Promotion means more money. More money means I can pay to fix my car!" Brinda said cheerfully.

"Thank you for telling me! But don't worry. I can still act surprised." Brinda said before grabbing Katie's head and kissing her cheek.

"My pleasure ... I mean ... no problem," Katie said turning red.

"Oh, would you look at the time? We need to get in there. The party is about to start!" Brinda said leaving the car.
