Where will we find a good story?
Breed me [historic]
Did you ever wonder how the women of Glace know that human men can make boy babies when the Valiant showed up? Hopefully this story will answer that question.
The news showed the funeral service held at a memorial wall for the dozen astronauts that never returned to Earth. The starship Explorer XIV was the first to make it to another star system. Unfortunately, there was this little black hole. Reports showed one pod was jetted from Explorer XIV, but it was assumed to have been gobbled up with the starship. After all, how could one little pod escape all that?
A dozen families dressed in black were handed medals and folded flags. The procession away from the service did not include the families. They did not want to stop crying in front of the names of their loved ones. The news coverage showed the cameras slowly backing away from this final picture of grief.
The news moved onto other stories and then as an afternote added, "Plans are being drawn up for a new spaceship called the Valiant. It will be the third in a new class of starship for the new mission of exploring other planetary systems."
That one little pod? It went shooting out sideways from the direction of the black hole. That is how it escaped destruction. However, there was endless space ahead of it. Just when the astronaut thought he would run out of supplies and regenerated oxygen, he saw planets. The closest one drew him into its gravitational field. Never before had the astronaut thought that blue was such a pretty colour.
The pod warmed up quickly as it passed through the atmosphere. The fuel tank had been empty a while so there was no fear of fire. Cushioning, however, was a concern. There was a lot of water below. When the pod finally hit something other than air, it was water and the pod bounced back up. The pod skipped along the surface like a stone. When it came to rest, it was lodged into watery sand.
Would the tide come in and drown the pod? No. The tide went out, and the sun came up, leaving the pod in drying sand.
Who is in the pod?
