Looking at Tae's life nobody could be said to have had more effect on how everything turned out than Tsubasa Kichiya/Kawanabe. In the past the young mother was an upcoming athlete before a leg injury robbed her of her career and was pretty much **** to find a husband to support her, so when Tae was born she **** her own dream on her as soon it was physically possible and she would use various tactics to brainwash her young child into someone convenient for her and later had her daughter follow a training regimen that was bordering **** behind her husband's back.

When Shige eventually got wind of this he tried to put a stop to it but by that point it was too late Tsubasa threatened him that she would accuse him for domestic **** and **** if he did anything to stop her assuring him that their daughter would side with her.

Despite this warning he reached into the appropriate authorities and sought to free his daughter from her mother's custody, unfortunately for him Tsubasa proved to be too formidable of an opponent, she was able to put an Oscar winning performance as the victim and had instructed her daughter to say just the right things, in the end of the whole affair her mother had manged to secure a substantial alimony and child support from her father while also dragging the reputation of the latter through the mud. Despite this victory an unstable Tsubasa would eventually put an end to her own life Infront of her own daughter shaking Tae to her core.

At that time her father tried his best to reconnect and regain custody but his efforts were opposed by distant family members that sought to gain monetary support like his wife had recalling his history of **** as means to that end disturbed, afraid and emotionally exhausted Shige disappeared completely from his daughter's life.

Ironically her new guardians proved just as if not more abusive than what they had accused her father of being, in response Tae made a point of avoiding her home spending more and more of her time in arcades and internet cafes, however she would eventually have to go home and whenever that happened she'd have to deal with their furstration until she was eventually fed up and fought back putting one of the so called guardians to the hospital before running away, untrusting of authority and too ashamed to look for her father she was **** to live in the streets fighting in underground rings or doing all manner of odd jobs in order to survive.

And over the years she became something of an urban legend "The Mad Taeya" the righteous thug nobody messes with.
