Chapter 15 by dr_wankenstein dr_wankenstein

What does Bonnie have to do?

Bonnie's scavenger hunt

"Excuse me," said Bonnie. "Can I have that, please?"

The clown looked down at the soft yellow rubber squeezy ball he was holding in his hands. He looked back up at Bonnie, smiled and shook his head.

"Come on," begged Bonnie. "I really really really really need it." It was true. She had to collect ten different soft rubber squeezy balls, all in different colours, from ten different clowns stationed around the carnival, and bring them back to Miss Trickett one at a time. The clown, who wore a white pierrot costume and had a yellow nose to go with his squeezy ball, shrugged and mimed a yawn.

"Just give it to me," snapped Bonnie. "Why are you like this?" The people in the line for the big top, waiting to see the nightly circus show, were all looking at her curiously. Possibly because she was arguing with a clown, but more likely because she didn't have any pants on. She stood there in the middle of the carnival, in just her gingham shirt and yellow panties, feeling very self-conscious as the brilliant lanterns illuminated her skin.

"Hey," she heard someone say. Probably Hank, the football player, who she hated. "That's Bonnie Driscoll. Where are her pants?"

"Oh my god," she heard someone else say. Most likely Anne-Marie, head of the cheerleaders, who she also hated. "Ha ha ha! Bonnie's not wearing any pants! Let's all take pictures!"

The clown beckoned her over, and whispered in her ear. Her eyes went wide as she heard what he had to say.

"I'm not doing that!" she said, hotly.

The clown shrugged again.
