Bold action

You really want that book back. You creep close to her, standing directly between Jo and your book bag. You gather your nerve, breathing as quietly as possible. Then you reach over and bat the book out of her hand and onto the bed; Jo screams. At the same time, you grab the strap on the bag. You scoop up the book and run to the door. With the hand holding the bag strap, you turn the handle on the door and pull it open. While you run toward the stairwell, you stuff the book into the bag and put it over your naked shoulder. Jo is still screaming behind you, yelling something about ghosts.

You can hear Jo's footsteps and shouting behind you. You make it to the stairway and open the fire door. You run down the steps as fast as you can, jumping the last three or four steps. When you think you have enough lead on her, you duck out on the second floor. Looking down, you notice that the bag is now invisible. Apparently, whatever you wear becomes invisible, like your clothes you discarded in your excitement about being unseen.

You walk quietly, yet quickly, down the empty hallway.
