A blackfin (aka Blacktip) shark mermaid dangerously aroused by food and blood.

Merfolk generalisations

Individual differences aside, these shark merfolk are surprisingly timid towards other merfolk, preferring to stay in groups of their own kind. They may become instinctively subservient or submissive to varieties of other large shark species.

These merfolk, especially those not long out of the sanctuary will often form large schools to hunt, migrate in.

Both curious and shy they are attracted to new and novel things but will need a bit of climitization and coaxing before they dare to engage with new merefolk.

In most cases, these merfolk make for surprisingly pleasant company. Perhaps because of their timid nature and their schooling habits: they are social sensitive even to cultural differences of other merfolk species.

This is under normal circumstances, however. Any merfolk, no matter how fierce should leave well enough alone if commingacross the feeding banquet of blackfin-merfolk. Old friend or no, when stimulated by food these merfolk will transform into strangers. The nice, shy and perceptive blackfin shark will transform into an aroused, agitated, insensitive prick.

The similar aggressiveness may pop-up during sex as their fornication often devolve into violent affairs with plenty of love biting, especially among the mermen. They may be coaxed into something more romantic with a kiss. The go too trick to make a shark swoon.

Shark sea creature characteristics in detail

Appearance & features

Blackfin also known as Blacktip sharks (not to be confused with Blacktip reef shark) may grow to become 2.5 m (8.2 feet) long with a robust body and a pointed snout and small eyes. Take note of the black coloured tips on their fins. These sharks have a white underbelly and when exposed to sunlight will tan and gain either grey or brown hide save for a noticeable white stripe on their sides.

Born hunters, these creatures have a keen sense of smell, electromagnetic sensors by the noes, good eyesight and and sensitive gums lined with several rows of teeth that frequently fall out and grow back. Coldblooded they prefer to stay in shallow, warm waters and will migrate when the winter turns their usual waters cold. Remaining exclusively in the daylight zone, and will dwell near shores or even brackish (mixed fresh and salt) waters.

Like most sharks, they enjoy rough sex, and have cloaca and claspers. They also love kisses and will often swoon upon receiving one. Blackfin sharks will mate in spring and will carry the egg sacks in their bellies and will give birth to live pups after a year in the birth grounds of the mother. These pups will then take 4-7 years before they too reach the age of maturity. Note: This applies to the blackfin sea creature and their merfolk counterpart are notorious for having any number of variations to their sexorgans.

This is also one of the few shark species that have been known to give virgin births, where the, usually single pup is an exact genetic copy of the mother.

Behaviour

A social bunch, these sharks will form schools during the day, especially when young, but will scatter at night.

Though a school of sharks may sound daunting, these sea creatures are particularly timid and will give way to same sized or larger predators. Should they feel threatened, cornered or challenged they will perform a threat display by hunching their backs, lowering their pectoral fins and and lift their hands and tails and swim menacingly towards the offender before turning away.

Though curious by nature, their natural caution will kick in when coming in contact with a new creature. Leading them to observer from a safe distance. Thus they are unlikely to pose danger to other merfolk or humans under normal circumstances and seldom offend others with their "test bites" like great white sharks are known to do.

Alas, these sharks still possess a vice; when stimulated by an abundance of food or blood the, the iconic feeding frenzy of the sharks will settle in, causing them to become excited and aggressive if not outright murderous.

Diet & food chain

These powerful creature are fast swimmers. Social creatures, possessing an underrated intelligence they also work together to herd the schools to best take advantage of their signature move, a corkscrewing lunge with a momentum capable of launching them into the air.

Though the bulk of their diet are palm sized schooling fish (bait fish) such as herring, sardines and so on. They will feed also opportunistically feed on rays, small sharks and octopuses, should they find such prey while hunting.

Although few predators prey on the blackfin shark as adult. Hammerhead sharks, tiger sharks other equally large large predator fish will prey on the young and inexperienced of this kind.

Buff and with a pointed snout allows them to reach great speeds and perform spin attacks. Don't be put off by their fierce looks however, they're docile. Usually....
