Black Eagles

It was a difficult choice for Byleth, Golden Deer or Black Eagles. Blue Lions may have had Mercedes, but it just wasn't enough to compare to the other two groups. And the two groups were so similar! Bernadette and Marianne, Leonie and Dorothea (in the sense he had an 'in', anyway), Caspar and Raphael... the parallels went on.

Ultimately, he settled on the eagles for one reason - Edelgard was a girl. A shockingly shallow reason, but with the class perspectives so similar, he needed SOMETHING to help make the decision.

'I knew you'd make a good choice!' Sothis praised him while she hid in the lamp. 'So many cute girls for you to get close to over the coming months!' Byleth sighed mentally as he returned to the audience chamber, where Lady Rhea was waiting, along with Seteth, Manuela and Hanneman.

Rhea was very happy to see him return, while Seteth looked at him with suspicion. "How are you enjoying your time at the academy thus far? I hope you have found our halls brimming with the vitality of well-intentioned souls."

"Hm. I suppose it is time for you to take charge of one of our three houses of students. I must note that I am personally against entrusting someone as lacking in trackable history as yourself with such a task, but it is as the archbishop desires." The Archbishop's advisor followed up with his issues. It was odd for Byleth too, but he'd make the best of it.

It was a good thing he had come to a decision as he walked up the stairs - they'd let him choose his class first. "I've decided to teach the Black Eagles, Lady Rhea." He said, bowing formally as he tried to avoid staring at the head of the church's body too long - he wouldn't put it past Seteth to make his life hell if he didn't show her the proper decorum. "In all honesty, given how many good students in each house there were, it was a difficult choice to make."

"Well, you don't have to worry about that too much." Rhea assured him. "While the houses are generally chosen by region, if a student feels like another professor would be better for their education, they are allowed to transfer between them." Byleth's natural poker face saved him again as he could suddenly hear Sothis cheering in his head.

With Hanneman picking the Blue Lions and Manuela selecting the Golden Deer, they discussed there would be a mock battle tomorrow for the new Houses. As he turned to leave, he saw a green haired girl walk in and talk to Seteth. Apparently they were siblings (Byleth would have said father daughter, himself) before he went down to meet his class.
