Bitter Bleachers

Chapter 252 by RoyalKarina RoyalKarina

Cameron attended the funeral. Everyone attended. Her parent’s bitter. But now realising the truth. We have often realise too late.

Much too late.

It was at the old high school gymnasium where it all began. Blue bleachers. Rubber seats. Ripped foam. Glossy wooden floor. Basketball lines. Nearly 200 paid their respects. Hurrying in and out. Cameron didn’t stay long. Cameron’s dad hadn’t come — so that was a relief. He’d probably make a scene.

Cameron approached Maggie’s parents. They reeked of bitterness. A bad smell. Cameron wondered whether it was their daughter’s death or the fourth place plateau they were bitter about. She wouldn’t be surprised if it was the latter.

They grunted as Cameron said “I’m sorry.”

Just like that it was all over. She was walking home on a summer evening.

Cameron wanted Sergei really badly. Her husband. His two day promise stretched into a week, and he barely called for more than five minutes. He was on business. Big business. Closing deals. But she had feeling that wasn’t the whole truth.

She walked by a gym. Livewell Gym. Opening soon! Looking for personal trainers! She approached the window. It was still being constructed. A mess of wires and wood inside.
