Betrayed

Sadness welled up in your chest. This had happened before, not with Kelly, and it was under vastly different circumstances, but the feeling was the the same.

"Get out," you command in a hollow voice, staring at the floor.

"You promised you wouldn't be mad," Katie responded, her voice breaking.

"I'm not."

"I n-need— we're b-best friends! I-I need you to f-forgive me," Katie was blubbering, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Please get out."

"I-I d-didn't m-mean to! We were d-drunk!"

You were standing before you knew it, the sadness quickly turning to anger.

"So?! That excuses it? Makes it better somehow? BOTH of you knew. You KNEW, but you didn't stop. Where is he?"

"I-it wasn't his f-fault! I—"

Katie was saved from answering when Kelly stepped into the room.

"I take it she told you?" Kelly asked solemnly.

"Get out Katie."

Katie looked up at your body and Kelly nodded. Without another word, or even a glance, Katie left.
