Chapter 69 by Sinburn Sinburn

What's next?

Berty

Gob was thankful that he had persuaded Impertinence to take it from behind. She had a lovely body, curvaceous and womanly with a plump rear and two large breasts. It was this body that made her girlish face so uncanny but he had his hand pressed against it, pushing it against the wall and it was being well received. “Ruin me, you filthy beast,” she cried out as he slammed his cock into her. She had already cum once. Gob wasn’t about to make this last longer than he needed to but he had a reputation to maintain.

He roughly kneaded her tits as he focussed on what she wanted. All he wanted was to keep her face out of view. “Use me, you animal.” She seemed to be enjoying his monstrousness. He could tell she held herself in very high regard and being used and degraded was pressing her buttons. He could tell that she would respond well to some verbal degrading as well but he couldn't bring himself to be that engaged. She would cum again soon enough and he could call it a job well done.

Sure enough, he sensed her pleasure growing. He sighed in his mind and resolved himself to one last push. “I’m going to defile your body with my filthy cum.”

“Yes, oh yes,” she cried, her pussy clenching at the idea.

“I’m going to paint your pretty face with my filthy cum.” That did it. She started to cum and he pulled out and **** her down. Mercifully she grabbed his cock and started jerking it wildly to cover her own face. This meant he could throw his head back and make it look like he was in the throes of pleasure. His orgasm was fine, better than doing it himself but that wasn’t really a thing these days. He sensed her orgasm reach new heights in contact with his cum and he braced himself before looking down and caressing her cheek with his thumb. “Beautiful,” he lied. “You have made my dream come true.”

Impertinence lay there looking drunk from her orgasms. “No, thank you Mr Gob. It has been some time since I received such a passionate cock.”

“If only you knew what I really think,” he thought before saying. “You were wonderful. Now, let me find you something to clean up with. I’m afraid I really must get going.”

She groggily waved her hand at him. “Go, go, I’m fine. I’ll cast a spell. Not just yet though.”

He sensed that a small part of her wanted him to leave, to have used her and left her soiled. He smiled at that as it gave him a great excuse to get out of there. He bowed to her and said, “My Lady,” and turned to go.

“Wait, will you meet with me again?” she asked, almost theatrically.

“I am sure we will see each other at palace engagements. Farewell.” As he walked out he heard a guttural sigh from her. She was getting off on him abandoning her. “Thank fuck for that,” Gob muttered to himself when he was out.

He made for his rooms. He wanted to go and see Aki but there was a chance that something required his attention after that meeting. He was aware that, as a person of importance now, people would want to interact with him more. He came into the area they had designated as an office and Flare looked up from her desk. “I take it, it went well,” she said with a smile.

Gob gave a derisive laugh. “What gave you that idea?” he asked.

Flare looked a little surprised. “Oh, I just assumed it had because you already have a request for a meeting. Lord Mountbatten wishes to speak with you at your earliest convenience in his office. He said it was urgent.”

Gob was a little taken aback. “Interesting, which one is he?”

“Lord Commander of the palace guards. He is very important. I would not keep him waiting if I were you.”

“That old military man,” mused Gob. He might have put this off to see Aki but as it was Lord Mountbatten that had brought up her problem, he thought it would be better to see him first. “Very well. How does this work? Do we send a letter or something?” he asked, not sure of the etiquette.

Flare smiled at his confusion. “I will send a reply that will get there before you. His office is near the barracks. Just go, he will be expecting you.”

Gob nodded and set off. He realised how little he knew about how upper-class society worked. It would be a pain to learn but he was aware of how controversial he was and he didn’t want to make it worse.

He headed down the corridor where the alternative entrance to the nursery was. He resisted the temptation to step in for a moment, mostly because the corridor also reminded him of Aki and he was worried about her.

Montbatten’s office was not hard to find. It amused him how a couple of the guards had gone for their swords at the sight of him only to be stopped by others who had clearly heard about him. The office was very masculine with dark wood panelling and shelves adorned with military trophies and decorative weaponry. Montbattons secretary was a young-looking male officer, also a true demon who rose and bowed as he entered. Before walking to a door, knocking and saying, “Mr Gob for you sir.”

Gob heard Montbatton saying, “Good, good, send him in.”

“His lordship will see you now,” said the secretary and opened the door for Gob. Gob gave him a nod of thanks and went inside.

Mountbatten was standing at an ale cask filling a tankard. “Can I interest you in an ale Mr Gob?”

“Yes, thank you, and just Gob is fine. I prefer to drop formalities.” He hadn’t done that with Impertinence but that was different.

“Very good, Gob it is then. I feel much the same way. Call me Berty when we are alone if you prefer.”

“Berty? As you wish,” said Gob, taking the proffered tankard of ale.

Berty took a swig and got foam on his moustache which he licked off. “Ah, a privilege of my position, having a good ale on tap. Company is a good excuse to indulge. Come, let’s not stand on ceremony. I think the couches will be more comfortable.”

Gob was surprised at how different the man was from the one he had seen at the meeting. This man was friendly and personable. It almost made him feel as though he should be on guard. Was he trying to lull him into feeling relaxed? He took a tentative sip of his ale, fearing it may be poisoned. If it was poisoned it was probably worth it. It was excellent. “This is very good,” said Gob.

“Thank you,” said Berty. “I pride myself on having a good palate for ale. I’m very picky about what I keep for my personal supply. Please, sit.” He gestured to the couches and Gob sat down. Berty sat across from him and looked at Gob shrewdly.

Gob felt a little uneasy and decided that a direct approach may be required. “Berty, why have you asked me here?”

The shrewd look didn’t fade but it softened with a smile. “I want to get the measure of you Gob. the security of this empire is my remit and you are now a man of considerable power and influence. I would like to know a man like that better.”

“I see. I suppose that is understandable,” said Gob, unsure of what to say. “Can I ask you a question? You said the empire. I thought you were the head of the palace guards.”

Berty took a swig of his ale and nodded. “An understandable confusion. I believe that you have had a rather sheltered life in the palace so I will explain. The Maou has no army. The demon lands are a number of different factions, all with their own armies who swear loyalty to the Maou, mostly out of fear. Arguably the Maou needs no army as even on her own she is a formidable ****, add in the true demons and there is no army in the demon lands that could face us even if they unified into a single ****. All that being the case, it does not negate the need for an army.

“Palace guards are a nice way to name an army when you don’t want people to think that there is one. Military operations are a continuing effort through the demon lands to ensure the smooth running of the empire. They may be subtle and less flashy than an orc war band but they are more precise. Essentially, a lot of what I do involves subtlety and subterfuge.”

“Then I came along and potentially mess that all up, is that it?” said Gob.

Berty gave a slight shrug and fixed Gob with a hard stare. “Perhaps but don’t misinterpret me. I think your appointment is potentially one of the best decisions her magnificence has made.”

Gob felt tense. This amicable demon felt dangerous. “You will need to explain that one,” he said, trying to maintain his cool.

“I have one concern. The protection of the empire and the protection of the peace. Yes, peace,” sad Berty when Gob reacted to his statement. “I am one of the oldest true demons in the empire. Others get older and lose interest in life. I see that my work is still needed. I fought with the Maou’s father. His grand crusade to bring the world into his domain. I was there when he realised his folly. Different factions tearing themselves apart for the pickings of victory. Never-ending **** and suffering. For what? The glory of naming yourself ruler of the world? He saw that even if he ruled everything it wouldn’t bring anything worthwhile. It is in the nature of some of the creatures of this land to need an enemy. Without one they would turn on themselves. So he retreated from the bright lands and created the peace that exists today. They know that they will have to fight the odd war band or drow raid but the Maou will stay out of it and he will not bring all-out war.

“I believe in that peace and I swore to protect it. When her father died I feared that the young demon boy who took over lacked the strength to hold the peace. I was relieved that he did and that he seemed to be disinterested in war. I had begun to hope that I was wrong but then the disinterest came.” A look of sadness came over him. “These have been uncertain times and I have feared for what may come. When she turned up as a woman I sensed a change in her. Beyond the obvious one. The disinterest had faded. Unlike many of my peers, I do not see her change as a sign of weakness. I saw it as a sign of hope. And then you come along. A catalyst in all this to be certain.

“The disinterest I talked of has been noticed and more than that it has been taken advantage of. People hoping that she takes her own life to make room for a new Maou, a weaker, greedier Maou. You change that, at least a little. As much status as any lord or lady but not from our heritage. Lacking in any of the history, deal-making and feuds that exist between the families. No, I think you are just what we need right now. At least, potentially.”

“Potentially?” Gob asked

“What sort of man are you, Gob? I would ask you to be honest.”

Those words sounded like a threat. More than that, Gob could feel a prickling in his skin like his life was in danger. He could lie to this man but he suspected it would mean the end of his life. “I don’t really know. I would like to be more than the pet I used to be. It would be nice to live in comfort. I guess the main thing I want is to have lots of sex with beautiful women.”

There was a pause while Berty looked at him, his eyes seemed to look right through Gob. Then he laughed. It was a deep and rich laugh and Gob felt the prickle in his skin fade and a feeling of ease spread over him. “You are a simple creature and I respect it,” laughed Berty. “Yes, a comfortable couch and good ale. That is what I am after Gob and I have it right here. A younger me would have agreed about the sex though.”

“You believe me then?” Gob asked, trying to shake the former unease.

“Yes, there was no dishonesty. You hid nothing. Well, one thing but I will let it slide as it is not important. You are exactly the man you say you are. No man who wants comfort seeks war and no beast of your size hopes for sex instead of taking it if they do not respect others. No, I am content that you will be a **** for good, at least in the short run.”

“You would have killed me had I not been, wouldn’t you?” Gob stated.

Berty’s face took on a sinister slant. “Well done for sensing that. If I thought it would save the empire I would have risked the Maou’s displeasure.” His face returned to normal. “Now, let us discuss poor captain Aki. I sensed that you were interested in the report and that it may have something to do with you.” While his words were accusing, his tone was not.

“I’m not sure. I think it is a problem that she has had for a long time but I fear I may have helped it get out of hand. I don’t know but I’m guessing,” said Gob.

“Can you help?” Berty asked.

“No, but I think the Maou can.”

“And you think she will help if you ask?”

“I’m sure she will.”

This seemed to please Berty who nodded to himself. “Then I would ask you to help her post haste. She is a talented leader and I would be happier knowing she is back in charge of palace security.”

“That was my plan,” said Gob as he stood up.

“Then we are of one mind.” Berty rose too and extended his hand to Gob. Gob shook it and was impressed at how firm Berty’s grip was. “Feel free to discuss anything you think is pertinent with me at any time, Gob. If nothing else it is a good excuse for a mug of ale in the middle of the day.” Berty’s affable persona was back again.

“Thank you, I will,” said Gob as Berty led him to the door and let him out. Gob nodded to the secretary and walked briskly out of the office. Once he was sure he was out of sight he leaned against the wall to gather himself. He wasn’t sure what would have happened but he was sure he had just been as close to **** since Leaf blew him up. He stood up straight, took a deep breath and headed for Aki’s room.
