What's next?
Being Careful
Before I jumped right back into manipulating Jennifer, I spent an hour staring at the ceiling of my bedroom. The app's icon glowed faintly on my phone screen beside me, a quiet reminder of the power I held and the mess I was already making. What was I really trying to do here? I could keep charging ahead, using the app to carve my best friend's wife into the perfect fantasy, but what would that actually get me in the end? Marcus wasn't just my roommate. He was the guy who'd let me crash rent-free after my last job fell through, the one who'd bought me beer when I was broke, the friend who'd bailed me out of a drunk-and-disorderly charge last winter without a single lecture. If he ever caught wind of what I was doing, I'd be sleeping on a park bench by morning, or worse.
I had to be careful.
The changes I'd already made were small, but they were noticeable if anyone paid close attention. Jennifer cleaning the bathroom while singing? Her apologizing for being "bossy" after years of snapping at me for every perceived slight? Marcus might brush those off as the two of us finally working out some roommate tension. He might even be relieved. But if I pushed her to flash me or crawl into my bed, he'd clue in faster than a cop spotting a broken taillight on a Saturday night. No, I needed to stay patient. What I wanted was the best of both worlds: a sexy, obedient girl who'd do anything I asked, and a best friend who still thought of me as his reliable wingman. With the app, if I played my cards right, I could have it.
Maybe.
Three quick knocks rapped against Jennifer's bedroom door. No matter what my endgame looked like, I needed to reinforce the app's hold on her. She had to get used to following my commands without question. So far she hadn't pushed back hard, but one wrong move could shatter everything I'd started building.
"What?" she called from the other side, her voice sharp with irritation.
"Hey Jennifer," I called through the wood, the trigger phrase rolling off my tongue like something I'd practised. "Open up. I need to ask you something."
A moment of silence stretched out, followed by the soft scuff of footsteps on carpet. The door creaked open a crack, just enough for her to peer out. Her long brown hair was pulled back in a messy bun, a few loose strands framing her face. She wore an old band t-shirt that hung loose over her frame, the faded print half-hidden by the way the fabric draped. Behind her I caught a glimpse of the stack of books on her nightstand and the edge of the bed she'd probably been reading on.

"I'm busy," she said, green eyes narrowing behind her glasses as they darted toward those books. "What do you want?"
"Sorry to bother you," I answered, putting on my most innocent smile. "I can't find my charge cable. My phone's about to die."
"How is that my problem?" she sighed, rolling her eyes. She started to close the door, but I leaned forward and set my hand against the wood to stop it.
"Hey Jennifer," I said again, firmer this time. "Don't be a jerk. Let me borrow your charge cable."
A look of confusion crossed her face, like she was trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing. Her brow furrowed. Her lips pressed into a thin line. For a second I thought I'd gone too far, that I'd pushed her over some invisible edge. The fear hit hard and fast. Maybe the app's influence would break right then. Maybe she'd snap back to her usual self and scream for the police.
Then her expression softened. The confusion melted away, replaced by a calm, almost serene look that didn't quite match the woman who'd been ready to shut the door in my face.
"Sure," she said, stepping back to let me into the room. She walked over to her nightstand and bent over to unplug the cable from the wall. The band t-shirt rode up slightly as she reached down, revealing a sliver of her lower back and the curve of her hip above the waistband of her sweatpants. My pulse quickened at the sight. She straightened up a moment later and held the cable out to me with a small smile.
"Don't forget to bring it back later," she said, her voice warm and friendly in a way that still felt new.
"Thanks, Jennifer." I smiled back and took the cable from her hand. The plastic was warm from where it had been plugged in. I turned and walked out of the room, closing the door behind me with a soft click. "I won't forget. I promise."
"Thanks!" she called from inside, her voice cheerful now, as if lending me the cable had been the most natural thing in the world.
I walked back to my bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed, pulling out my phone. A small red badge had appeared on the app's icon. I tapped it open, heart beating a little harder than it should have for something so simple.
Influence Level: Level One - 15%
Subject: Jennifer Carter
Progress: Subject is becoming more receptive to commands. No resistance detected. Recommend gradual escalation to strengthen bond.
I stared at the screen, a grin spreading across my face. It was working. She was getting used to the influence, to following my orders without the usual fight. And with each command that landed cleanly, the app's hold would only get stronger.
I plugged my phone into the borrowed cable and leaned back against the wall, the charger cord stretching across the mattress. My mind raced with the next careful steps. Tomorrow I could ask her to wear something a little tighter, something that actually showed off the curves she always hid under hoodies and baggy shirts. Next week I could get her to bring me a beer without Marcus ever having to ask. Small moves. Quiet ones. Each of them would pull her a little further under.
Marcus would never suspect a thing. He'd just think Jennifer and I had finally started getting along. And by the time he figured out the truth, it would already be too late.
I closed my eyes and let myself imagine the day she would crawl into my bed without needing a single command, her eyes filled with want, her body ready for whatever I asked. It was only a matter of time.
