Jess placed the lamp in her purse. She had been in Agrabah long enough to know that any pickpocket might steal her lamp. She didn't want her freedom taken away so easily.

She looked down at her clothes, she had used magic to pass herself off as one of the outsiders to Agrabah. She met two people, John and Sarah, earlier and used her powers to make them think she was their friend Jess. If she revealed the truth to them they might help her escape, but if either of them got hold of the lamp she would be **** to obey them.
