What are you going to be like?

Be nice (Poll Win)

Chapter 4 by Krakatowa

The next morning, you got up ealry in the morning.

Your mother fussed about your clothes, trying to find the perfect look for you until your father said that they were running late.

"Besides, Reze would be in far worse shape no matter what after the long-distance travel."

That made you wonder if demanding a marriage on her right after she was "freed" was a good idea at all.

"Dad, maybe we should let Reze adjust here before springing in on her..."

You said.

However, your father shook his head and got in the car.

"Don't be ridiculous. The sole reason she was able to be sent here instead of being horrifically executed was to be your bride!

If anything, she should be the one eager to marry you as soon as possible...if she doesn't want that demon heart ripped out of her."

His answer didn't really make you feel any better.

If anything, it made you feel worse.

This was starting to sound more like kidnapping with extra steps rather than a marriage.

Since arranged marriages were the norm in this country, it wasn't unheard of that the couple themselves were not always involved romantically beforehand.

'Even so...this is pretty fucked up...'

You looked out of the window as the port drew near.

You could see a heavily armed ship docking by.

'That must be where Reze is held.'

The thought of actually meeting your former crush/soon-to-be bride made your heart skip its beat.

You desperately wished the situation were more romantic than this, but sadly, there weren't much you can do.

Your father parked his car near the docking station and led you to a heavily guarded security area.

"Your ID and registration, please."

The guards checked your father and your IDs.

After a few seconds, they nodded and returned the documents.

"Congratulations, young man."

One of the guards said with a smile.

"Thanks."

You returned the encouragement, albeit slightly stiff.

The guards opened the gate and you followed your father into the bunker, which was completely blast-proof from both inside and out.

Your father passed by with some other few important looking people.

"This is my son. He's going to be the groom of the package, you see."

"Ah, congratulations!"

You thanked and shook hands with each and every one. Who knew being a son of a powerful man could be such a burden?

After what felt like hours, you finally stood in front of a thick metal door.

One of the generals in charge handed you a small red button.

"For the record, we have everything under control. Reze won't be able to use her devil powers, nor her supreme strength or agility.

But just in case, if you ever feel threatened, you can press the button to end the session for now."

You twirled the red button in your hand.

Everyone was moving under the idea that you were meeting a dangerous terrorist—which was true, but it really didn't sit well with your mind.

Still, you slipped the button into your pocket.

"I get it."

"Alright then, unlock the door."

The heavy metal door made several loud "Thunk!" noises as the locks went free one by one.

After the fifth one was unlocked, the general dragged the door to the side...revealing the inside to you.

The entire wall, ceiling and the floor was nothing but dull steel.

Even the air reeked with the significant metal scent that you wrinkled your nose even before you entered the room.

However, your small frown was nothing compared to the expression on the person inside the room.

"..."

Reze sat silently from across the table.

Her eyes glared at you as you tentatively stepped in.

As soon as you passed the threshold, the door slid shut behind you... as if the general was eager to put something between him and the bomb devil.

"Uh..."

You tried to come up with something to say, but it was really hard to strike up a casual conversation when the room you were in was bleek and inhumane, and the person you were trying to talk to had the most livid yet un-feeling expression on her face.

In the end, you chose the awkward silence and took a seat on the table.

"Um, hello. My name is..."

"I don't care."

Reze cut you off even before you could introduce yourself.

"I've already heard what I was brought in here for, and my answer is, No."

Your throat dried up.

You had expected something like this would happen, but that didn't help you to be prepared at all.

Reze balled her hands into fists so hard that her knuckled turned white.

"I've been trained my whole life to be an obedient weapon to kill other people under given orders, and then you expect me to get shipped off like some lovedoll to be your little trophy wife forever?"

"N-no, that's not..."

You tried to explain, but Reze cut you off again by slamming her hands onto the table.

The metal table rattled loudly. Several security cameras in the room all focused on Reze threateningly, but Reze only snorted.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, brat.

But if you want someone special to lose your virginity to, then you'd better start looking somewhere else.

Because I'll gladly let myself get electrified for eternity than ever lend my hand to you in a marriage."

"...wow, okay."

Reze's string of insult was so fluent that you were actually impressed.

You wondered if she picked those skills up while she was imprisoned, but then you remembered she was always kept in a separate room for safety.

'So that colorful language was a given...'

It was clear that Reze was not at all on board to be your bride.

And honestly, you couldn't even blame her.

If the situation were reversed, you'd also prefer to get punished by law than get practically sold off to someone you had never known.

But the problem still remained that your parents wanted you to get married with Reze.

You doubted Reze knew the laws of this country, and by the looks of it, even if she did, she wouldn't have cared.

You pursed your lips, wondering what to do next.
