"Ok, I guess."

Sam sighed and let go. It was like unclenching a muscle she'd been keeping tight for hours. I look better, she thought.

"You look better already. More relaxed."

"I know." she replied. She sat down and lazily traced a finger along the countertop. She was still kinda horny.

"Uh, so what do you wanna do now?" Jake was looking at his feet awkwardly.

Sam felt a little awkward, too. The air was still charged from their sexual encounter. "We could have sex."

She gasped and put her hand over her mouth as Jake coughed in surprise. "Oh wow, that was really forward of me. Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking."

Her reaction was cute, though. The way she put her hand over her mouth like a scream queen in an old horror movie was adorable. She knew these thoughts were alien - who thinks of themselves as adorable? - but she just rolled with them. It was kinda fun, seeing herself this way.

Jake was talking. "Um, let's take it slow." That was probably a good idea. She took him by the hand and led him into the bedroom. God, this was so hot in a weird way.

"Let's start with a makeout session." She was embarrassed as soon as the words had left her mouth. What were they, teenagers?

She say down next to Jake on the bed and tentatively reached out to touch his shoulder. Doing so, she got a little thrill - we're really doing this! Emboldened, she took his right hand and placed it on her breast. God, she felt good. Her skin was so soft and supple and she could feel her nipple hardening under his touch.

She suddenly wanted to just feel closer to Jake. They shifted around so that they were spooning, with her as the big spoon. "I think this is called a jetpack," she said. "Spooning like this, I mean." She rubbed his calf with her foot, feeling a dull pulse of sublimated desire.

She didn't want to have sex, exactly - she just wanted to lie here with Jake. Sex was complicated. Sex brought up ethical questions. There was still a chance whatever this is would wear off, and if it did there wouldn't be any hard feelings about spooning. This was really, really nice.

They lay there for a while, just luxuriating in the intimacy. She knew Jake inside and out. She had never been this close to someone before. With all the worry and stress and curiosity put to the side, she could see what a gift this really was.

Jake's eyes widened as he realized the mistake he had made. He let his guard down for just a second, but it was long enough. Sam put her hand on his face and whispered into his ear.

"I love you."
