How did this happen?

Be Careful What You Say

Chapter 3 by HookedAndStripped

Ume angrily stomped through the school halls, other students clearing out of her way to avoid dealing with her wrath. Ume was a member of the public morals committee as well as also being the class president. Yup, this eighteen year old girl was the most feared person in the school, outside of the principal.

Ume had tons of power at her fingertips and would make sure to use it to make everyone is this school could be a proper member of society.

And today, her wrath fell upon one group that had been a pain in her ass from day one. The paranormal club.

Ume marched up to the club room door and slammed it open.

Ume: MIKA!!!!

All the students in paranormal club jumped and turned to look at the mad woman that had just entered the room.

Mika: Oh hi Ume. What brings you here

In the center of the club room was this large device that the club members had constructed, without the school’s permission.

Mika, the club leader, currently was trying to position herself in front of it so that she was blocking Ume’s view of the device. She was doing a pretty bad job of it.

Ume: What is that?

Ume pointed behind Mika.

Ume: What’s what?

The two high school seniors stared at each for a bit.

Mika the turned around to look at the device she and her club mates built.

Ume: Oh this? It’s not much, just a special communicator we made to talk and see the dead. Nothing special, try not to be too impressed

Ume: It’s a walking fire hazard is what it is. Did you even get this inspected and approved before you built

A boy with glasses was about to say something before Mika put her hand over his mouth.

Mika: I mean, I know some of things we build have been rather prone to bursting into flames. But I can guarantee that we’ve quadruple checked this thing to make sure it both actually works and is a 100% safe

Mika patted the side of the communicator, which caused a panel to fall off and then the thing to suddenly combust. One of the club members that had been prepared, immediately got into action and began spraying the thing down with a fire extinguisher.

Ume scowled hard while Mika chuckled

Boy: Mika actually built this thing using scrap metal she found laying around and through materials she bought on questionable web-sites. We’re also significantly over budget.

Mika glared at the boy before looking back at Ume.

Mika: So everything is still cool? Right?

Ume: Out!

Mika sighed

Mika: Fine, we’ll get rid of it. Not like it cost over thousand yen to build or anything.

Ume: No, I mean I want everything out of here! Including you guys! Because I’m making sure by the end of the day that this club is shut down

Mika: What?! You can’t do that! You don’t even have a reason.

Ume: Are the constant fire hazards not enough, or the destruction of property and trespassing, the waste of school funding, or how about you guys embarrassing the entire school by living out the childish fantasy of hunting ghosts.

Mika: It’s more than just ghosts and it’s not childish

Ume: Yes it is, because ghost, yokai, and onis don’t exist

Mika: They do, people just don’t search hard enough. You mean to tell me you don’t believe in them despite all the stories?

Ume: I’ve never believed in ghosts.

Mika: Never?!

Ume: I’ll put on the record, I have never believed in ghosts when I was a child. And I will never, ever believe in ghosts.

Mika glared at Ume but had no come back. With nothing left to say, Ume stomped out of the room since she had better things to do. She probably come back here at some point later on to make sure the former club members actually moved everything out.

But, little did Ume know, the school was actually haunted. Haunted by the ghost of a girl who died of literal embarrassment
