Batwoman and Catwoman

Gotham Museum of Antiquities

The Batwoman sat perched on the top of an adjacent building, staking out the museum. She'd had several conversations with Lieutenant Gordon about the rash of burglaries that had been happening citywide -- priceless valuables, stolen from Gotham City's elite. While both Gordon and the Batwoman had agreed that the city had more pressing issues, pressure from the GCPD higher-ups had **** Gordon's hand; Batwoman had agreed to look into it for him while he was building his own case against corruption in the GCPD.

This made the latest exhibit at the Gotham Museum a prime target. Billionaire businesswoman Kate Kane had announced that she would be publicly displaying her family's substantial private art collection for the first time ever. This proved to be a huge deal with museum goers, with people from all over the world flocking to Gotham to see it.

Of course, this was all a ploy by Kate; she reasoned that this thief would be unable to resist pilfering the exhibit, and planned on catching him or her in the act as the Batwoman. Sure enough, the building's security measures went offline, and Batwoman, who had been remotely networked to the system -- it had been built by KaneTech, after all -- sprung into action.

Selina Kyle made her way through the exhibit, pocketing anything that caught her eye, a wide grin on her face. The Kane family had all kinds of unique and exotic jewelry, and it was all there for the taking. While she rarely paid any mind to the upper-class bluebloods she usually stole from, Kate Kane was different, Selina thought. She was intriguing. She had all kinds of philanthropic endeavors, unlike the rest of Gotham's elite, who were content to sit on their wealth. And she was a gorgeous redhead. Essentially, she was the exact opposite of that vile little Oswald Cobblepot, one of Selina's favorite marks. Still, Catwoman reasoned, Kate Kane was so rich that losing a few little trinkets here and there wasn't going to harm her much.

"You're impressive," came a voice from the shadows. "Gotham Museum security isn't easy to bring down."

Selina flashed a flirty smile as she turned to face the Batwoman. "I do love a challenge. So you're the Batwoman, huh? I figured we'd meet each other eventually. You know, you're prettier than I expected."

"I'm not interested in small talk," Batwoman answered. "I need you to come with me."

"No, no. See, I can't do that," Selina grinned. "I have people to help, jewels to steal."

"People to help?" Batwoman asked, doubtful that the thief truly had any altruistic intentions.

"I sell most of what I steal to help the people below the poverty line in this town," Selina explained. "Those rich snobs won't go hungry if I take a few toys of theirs. Of course, I keep the really pretty things for myself. A girl's gotta reward herself every now and then, don't you agree?"

"Be that as it may, you're a thief. I still have to take you in."

"That seems awfully self-righteous for a vigilante like yourself," Catwoman scoffed. "We both want to help people. I'm guessing you'd agree that the GCPD doesn't do nearly enough. So why judge me?"

She had a good point, Kate thought to herself. Her entire life, Kate Kane had been surrounded by Gotham's rich and successful, and they'd always disgusted her. She'd despised having to do business with LexCorp, knowing the kind of person the company's owner truly was.

"You might be right. But I still have a job to do -- we can discuss this further... if you come with me."

"You know, hon, I actually would like to get to know you better," Catwoman admitted. "But that'll have to wait another day."

Catwoman immedately turned and ran, leading Batwoman on a long chase across the rooftops of Gotham; usually, when someone tried to escape the Batwoman, it didn't end well for them. Catwoman was different; not only did she manage to succesfully elude the Batwoman, at times, she seemed to be enjoying it. As the chase ended, Batwoman couldn't find any signs of Catwoman, save for a note she found on the ground:

Dear Batwoman,

That's the most fun I've had in ages! I can't wait for our next date.

XOXO, Catwoman
