Eva and I waited in our positions in the darkness. I held a candle by the door. She would hide herself until the time was right. The door slowly opened, and to my delight, Battler stepped in quickly, instead of peering in to see what was waiting for him. Most likely, he didn't want to stay in the hall, where anyone might ask him what he was doing there.

As soon as he was inside, I locked the door behind him. I saw him start when he heard it, then freak out when he saw my masquerade party face in the dark. Greetings, Ushiromiya Battler, I am-

Ack! I dodged an impulsive punch from the young man, just barely!

I wasted no time explaining what I was doing here. Battler, a game has been prepared for you tonight. A game of magic.

"Magic?! Are you kidding?!"

Off to a good start... Ahem. Yes. Allow me to explain how tonight's game will entertain you. First, here is something that will definitely get your interest.

I carried the candle over to a loveseat that had been prepared. On it, the silver briefcase from before rested, open and revealing its contents. It wasn't all the money I had shown before, but it was still three preposterously thick stacks of large bills. Once again, Battler's eyes bulged from his head as he beheld another unbelievable sight. "The... hell...?!"

Battler, this money is real, and it is yours to spend in our game tonight. Allow me to explain. This is a game that has been prepared by the Witch of this mansion, Beatrice. The rules are as follows:

1) There are three stacks of cash. You are about to be presented with an offer. If you pay one of these three stacks to that person, you will be granted a chance to proceed. If not, I, H.I. Player, will reclaim the entire pot.

2) If the offering you purchase pleases you, you may show your appreciation by tipping another stack to have it continue. Otherwise, you may proceed to the second offer, in which you will meet the witch herself.

3) The witch will present you with the second offer. If it pleases you, you may pay a stack of cash to have it continue. However, in that case, the witch may also present you with a condition. You will be **** to meet that condition to continue. Whether you accept or refuse, by reaching this stage, you will be permitted to keep all of your remaining money.

As you can see, it's unbelievably generous, and I'm not even talking about the cash. I believe you'll find the offer very enticing...

"Uh... Sorry, I can barely keep up," Battler admitted, shaking his head. The whole thing was obviously sketchy to him, but, somehow, I think my enthusiasm rubbed off on him and he realized he didn't need to fear for his life. Then again, maybe it was the glint of greed that can sway nearly any man or woman...

Not to worry, Battler. It should make more sense in action. Let's proceed to the first offer... As you watch, I want you to consider the Witch's great power that has made this unimaginable night of fantasy a reality for you...
