Battle ready

You gathered the girls to go over your plan. In the morning, you would leave with the bulk of your forces, so this would be your last day all together before fighting began.

“Ok...I can’t keep us all together this time, I need some of you for special tasks. I promise it’s only for a short time.”

Maya glares at you. “You better not leave me behind just because of a little puking.”

You chuckle. “I know I couldn’t get you away from me. You’re with me, along with Anna and Kali. We’ll be leading the main ****, and they’ll focus on us. I’m the figurehead, it’ll be dangerous, so we need to watch out for each other.”

Clarissa speaks, “I assume you want me with my people?”

The dwarven contingent had arrived the day before, nearly a thousand strong. “I do, and I want you to take Uzume with you. The dwarves are heavily armed and armored, but not very mobile, so you’ll be anchoring my right side. With any luck, they’ll push left as I want them to.”

You indicate a map on the table. Your chosen battlefield is lined with trees on either side, and a river runs along where your right flank will be. There is a slight incline in your favor, and the clearing is ideal for your plans.

“I reached out to Ky Dura, and her orcs should be headed there now. They will wait in the forest to our left until the lines meet, then attack into the rear.”

You turn to Ruka and Sadie. “Your job will be to disrupt any spellcasters you see. If they focus on me, great, more magic for me. But if they attack our troops I need you taking them down.”

Ruka smiles. “No problem. Between us we can handle that.”

You nod. “Lynn, Yura, I’ll be keeping you with our messengers. If Yura can see any advantages, send a rider, and Lynn can support Yura better than someone in combat.”

Yura nods. “My powers are not great at short term changes, but with Lynn helping I may be of assistance.”

Lynn nervously smiles. “Just please don’t get hurt...”

You smile back. “I’ll do my best. I have more plans once everything kicks off, but I’ll save that for the day. I have a inkling that not all the soldiers on their side are as motivated as they could be. We can take advantage of that. Remember, we want as few casualties as possible.”

You look at Uzume as you say that. The huge Oni giggles. “I’ll do my best! Humans are just so squishy!”

Everyone chuckles, and you nod. “Get a good nights sleep tonight. We leave at dawn.”
