Chapter 19 by Ben Rosewood Ben Rosewood

Now all that's left to do is find Sila and get back home.

Battered, bloody, and absolutely wasted

I turn to the bar to see Sila holding a bloody hand against her nose and some guy with his arm around her. As I rush forward, I ask "What happened?"

"It was an accident, I swear." The guy stammers.

"I'm good Roxy." Sila gives me a thumbs up with her blood-soaked hand, showing her bloody face. At least whatever happened didn't break her glasses.

Cocking my head to the side, I ask. "You sure?"

"Yeah." To my surprise, she's got an ear-to-ear grin. Nice to know she's a happy drunk. "You should take a photo."

With a shrug, I pull out my phone.

"Smile."

Sila does just that, giving two thumbs up. With the press of the button, I capture the moment before showing it to Sila. "How's that?"

"Fuck yeah Roxy. You're the best." And you're battered, bloody, and absolutely wasted.

That's when I hear the deep boom of Big Ed's voice. "Everything alright?"

"All good. Just an accident." I state before looking to the guy, who looks like he's seen a ghost. That or a six-foot-plus barbarian ready to split a skull.

"Really?"

"Yeah it's fiiiine." Sila states.

"Alright."

Ed walks off so Sila's 'attacker' decides to vacate the area. Might be time to do the same, before drunk Sila does something sober Sila will regret in the morning.

"How about we get going?" I ask.

"Sure."

We start to walk, with Sila starting to stumble. Jeez, after only three White Claws? Maybe she had a forth? Then again, she's a short little thing, so it should come as no surprise that she's a lightweight. As we head to the door, I see Will who looks to us.

"Need that lift?" He asks.

"Sure do."

"C'mon."

Sila and I stumble towards Will's Corolla. We get into the back, where I put her seatbelt on.

Will then ask "She alright?"

"She's fine." I say as I click my own seatbelt on as Sila leans onto me.

"Cool. So where do you live?"

I give Will directions to my place. As we continue, Sila remains surprisingly silent considering how her drunk-self was back at The Silhouette Saloon. That's when I realize she's fallen asleep on me. Soon enough, Will pulls up in front of my house, where I'm going to have to deal with my sleepy roommate and my new guest.

Better get Sila inside. You know, just in case she pukes all over me and the backseat.
