Basic tests

Back in the basement you take a closer look at the ring. It looks perfectly normal and has no slot for any kind of battery. However, when you pull it from your finger you can see the crystal turns red again, even if you don’t touch it. You assume red means that the ring is inactive and by saying back again you confirm this, since nothing happens.

You put the ring on again and activate it. You say back and time jumps back to the point where you touched it the last time. So it seems you can’t go back in time to a previous ring activation. Well, now at least you know the rules by whom this thing works. But you still don’t know how this is possible at all. There is no known power or technology that is able to mess with the time itself. The most humans can do is to expand time by very high speed and this only works in theory and space shuttles. And even if, according to Albert Einstein it is impossible to make time flow backwards.

You look at all the boxes and get an idea. You activate the ring and empty three boxes by just skipping the stuff inside on the floor. Then you go back in time and just as you hoped the boxes are filled again. Next you rip some pages out of a book and when you go back in time the book is in perfect condition again. You get a feeling how this works even if there are still some open questions. But you don’t want trouble with the others for fooling around while they work, so you go back in time again, deactivate the ring and take a box. When you go up, you meet Jenny who just wants to get another box.

“Hey Jenny, do you know how late it is?” you ask to check one last thing.

“Almost four pm,” Jenny answers while locking at her watch, “we still have a lot of time today.”

This is the same time you started to carry boxes. So it seems the time has been set back everywhere and not just in a small bubble around you. This is good to know. However, when Jenny turns around to go to the basement, you suddenly get a naughty idea.
