Chapter 22 by supremelord170

Which way do you choose?

Balcony

Your Status: Strong Resistance, Infection at 4%

Your Equipment: Ball Cap, Clothes(B), Sneakers

Your Inventory: Pistol A (15/15), Flip Lighter, Mini Flashlight

You start running, thankful you didn't forget the info about the lodge in your panic. You carefully
toss your pistol onto one of the chairs and grab a statue, some kind of bear or something, and without breaking stride, throw it at the windows ahead of you. The windows shatter easily, the loud crash blocking out briefly the sounds of the Infected behind you. You don't stop, narrowly missing a particularly large wedge of glass and the odd feeling of displaced air prompting you to move faster. It is a short distance to the railing, and you ignore the brief bit of pain as you grab and hop over it....

Into open air.

The Infected take no pause of the railing, never stopping as they jump it, being flexible enough to
use the top of the railing as a step to launch over it in an effort to catch Anne. They seem to be
confused as they begin to fall down the 200 ft drop. For about half a minute, the Infected rain down
onto the forest below before the bodies cease.

The lodge is eerily silence; the only sounds are the breeze running through the broken windows, the
rustle of tree limbs in the breeze....

And the panting you give as you try to calm your racing heart while you cling to one of the balcony's support beams. You're exhausted, frightened and relieved about the whole thing. You honestly thought you would have missed it, and are extremely happy you noticed the bracket signaling where the beam met the balcony flooring.

It takes a while before you calm down, and far longer to climb back up(you're not scared of heights,
but you are scared of FALLING TO YOUR ****!). Once back on the balcony, you can't help but to bend at the waist and take several breaths. You aren't even sure what time it is, but you feel like just
collapsing on a bed. But you **** yourself back up, and take note of the change in the lobby.

Before, it looked like a normal lobby. Now, it looks like someone used a high pressure air hose to blast the furniture toward the balcony; well, except for the broken windows and the body under one of the window frames. You cautiously approach it, but it quickly becomes evident that it's dead. You shiver as you look at the jagged shards of glass piercing the hoodie at its head and neck. That was almost you. Another shiver creeps down your spine before you leave the body behind.

It takes a few minutes, while you keep an eye on the open parking lot, but you manage to recover your gun from under an overturned table. The cord, however, has been yanked apart and you don't think Rebecca can repair it. You still grab it before heading back to stairwell and down into the shelter. Darkness greets you, forcing you to pull out your flashlight once again while you also drop the ruined cord. By the rather small beam of light, you manage to make it back to the tunnel entrance. Sure enough, Rebecca is gone. And you are not terribly surprised that there is only one duffel bag remaining. As you rummage through it, it only takes a moment to discover that you are in very bad shape. All that is left is the rain poncho, pocketknife, and the firecrackers. You sigh, before closing it up and you sling it over your shoulder. You have a lot of ground to cover if you want to catch up to her. Better get moving.

You've left the lodge successfully, but your friend and most of your supplies are gone. What's next?
