Bad news.

The general walked in looking very grave as he approached the throne and bowed. He informed Arerto that 1400 officers and men had been slaughtered on the southern plains. They had been attacked by over 5000 enemy troops from across the border ruled over by King Modesa. Arerto went into a controlled rage asking what the general intended to do about this incursion.

The General informed Arerto that all that stood in the way of the approaching enemy was around 120 troops at an outpost called Myposa landing. "General excuse my maths but if 1400 men could not hold a position do you expect 120 men to?" the general shudder at the Queens comments but he knew she had a point. "Sabine get my horse readied we are going to Myposa.

The ride was hard and dusty but they made good time and found the commanding officer who informed them that the enemy was about four or five hours away. The landing consisted of four buildings roughly in a box shape with a road way and two side paths. The commander had already started barricading the road and paths with carts and bags filled with corn.

All that around was open plains lands with a few corn fields dotted around and of course the canvas troop tents. Arerto walked around and had the tents torn down. She had the fires doused no point in offering the enemy a source of fire. She quizzed the commander and found he had 60 archers and 60 infantry with a further 20 local militia and 25 walking wounded.

The archers were placed in the four towers and the infantry at the barricades all they could do now was wait for the enemy. Arerto ordered Sabine back to the capitol to get reinforcements but Sabine argued she was needed at the Queens side but Arerto was adamant. So it was Sabine headed back to the capitol as Arerto watched on.

Arerto watched releasing a sigh of relief knowing Sabine would be safe. Since she had met Sabine she had felt her as an equal not just another subordinate. And these nightcaps had stirred certain feelings with in Arerto and if she survived this fight she would take it further.

The commander came over and told Arerto that she should have gone back to the capitol and Arerto smiled."Thank you for your concern commander but i cannot asked my troops to fight if i am not prepared to do the same." With that they both stood at the barricades and waited for the enemy.
