Incident on Space-station Vega

The year is 23XX. Mankind has long ago left its cradle and taken its first step into the vast mystery that is space. Humans reside on every celestial body in the solar system, with space cities, mining stations, civilian ships, beacons and probes littering space from Mercury to Neptune. Now their eyes are poised greedily outwards to the infinite resources of the galaxy.

Somewhere between Pluto and the Oort cloud exists a space station named Vega; a giant scientific structure that serves as a last pitstop for brave explorers heading out of the system. It floats listlessly, lights blinking like a lighthouse in a vast, unending sea, the signal it emits into space being the only means of finding it easily, or at all.

You were born on Vega more or less twenty Earth years ago (it's hard to tell exactly in space, especially so far out in the rim).
