Back to Terrance
‘I really can’t believe it,' i say, 'milk jugs. So subversive. But, I mean, Terrance, I’m not wearing anything under this top. If i pull it down i’ll be completely exposed. Shouldn’t I have some modestly garments to wear or something? If post work is going to be over-layed on top anyway—and fucking woke censorship, totally—couldn’t I wear whatever underneath?'
‘A keen observation, my dear. I can tell this is not your first day on set. I suppose Tyler my PA intern, wherever the insufferable fool may be—TYLER THE PA INTERN, GET HERE NOW!—could likely dig something up. But I must remind you, sweet Lillian, what we do here, the magic of filmmaking, it is not about modesty. It’s about artistic integrity. Pure, unadulterated human spirit burned onto the film. My vision for this advertisement, for the important story that it tells, will suffer. If you do not in actuality pull them out, most assuredly it will suffer. If they are not really out, they have not been pulled out. If they have not been pulled out, it is not true to the story, to my story. Our story. For that, they must be out! Not in! Our viewers, no rubes to begin with, and by now deeply captivated, no doubt, after I’ve spoken to them in the language of film so convincingly, so fluently, will surely spot the hollow unreality of it in an instant! The spell will be broken! That simply cannot be. Work with me on this, my muse, make art with me."
Great. Discerning viewers and artistic integrity my ass. This guy just wants to see some tits.
Do I keep auteur Terrance happy? I have no qualms at all with nude roles and there's certain to be many of them if I can actually make it as an actress. It's really no big deal. And not doing so could get me labeled as fussy or uncooperative or some bullshit.
On the other hand, there is no reason for it whatsoever. It's not actually a nude role. A similar scene on an actual, professional shoot would have modesty garments.
