What's next?
Back To The Grind
Todd made it to the office later than normal the following morning. He was again tempted to work remotely, but the final details were being worked out on the MotorBoys deal today and he couldn’t miss it. He didn’t have any early meetings, however, so he decided he could at least take his time getting ready. On a normal Friday he’d be trying to get to gym, but that wasn’t even a consideration today as he grappled with the effects of a second long night in a row. He’d missed a few too many workouts recently and admonished himself that he’d need to pick it up soon.
Kait had beaten him out of bed, for a change, and made the morning coffee before he could drag himself out of bed. They didn’t discuss any of the night’s previous events, but Kait was in a cheery mood even by her normal standards, which helped Todd’s own outlook for the day.
When he got to the office, he passed by the break room on the way to his desk and noticed that Hunter was already there. He was sitting at a table with two of the other account managers, his usual crew. Flanking Hunter on either side were Larry and Tyson. Larry was a large, heavyset guy who was always cracking jokes and was something of an office clown. Todd was pretty sure Larry had lined up Hunter with the job at RevTec, he was also a weightlifter and knew Hunter from the gym. Tyson, in stark contrast, was only about 5’8” or 5’9” so he was dwarfed in their presence. Todd got along okay with Larry, but Tyson was kind of an asshole who Todd avoided whenever possible. His face was always twisted into a scowl so that even when he laughed, he looked mean.
The pair were huddled up around Hunter and watching something that he was playing on his phone. Todd wasn’t in earshot, but he’d seen this formation before and assumed they were likely watching a video of Hunter and some girl. He’d noticed Hunter being very friendly with the bartender the night before and it wouldn’t have surprised him if he ended up taking her home, maybe that was what they were watching?
The three of them didn’t see Todd as he walked past, which made Todd breathe sigh of relief, he didn’t feel like dealing with Tyson this morning and wasn’t sure yet exactly how it was going to go with Hunter after last night.
Todd got his desk and started working. The final numbers were in on the MotorBoys deal, and he couldn’t have been happier, it was going to be worth $2.2 Million per year on a three-year contract. His commission was just under 2%, so the initial payout was going to be a little over $40,000. Splitting any future growth and the renewals going forward still stung a little, but right now the prospect of that initial check was making everything hurt a lot less. Todd had barely made $40,000 in commissions during his previous 5 years combined, so this felt life changing.
After a couple of hours spent replying to emails and sitting on a conference call, Hunter swung by Todd’s desk.
“Hey bud, how’s it going?” Hunter asked with a friendly smile. If he was feeling any ill effects from the previous night of drinking, Todd couldn’t tell. He knew Hunter had at least five beers during the time they’d been hanging out and didn’t seem close to stopping.
“Hey Hunter.” Todd replied, leaning back away from his keyboard.
“You see the updated deal numbers? Not bad, right?”
Todd smiled; he was relieved and happy to talk about the deal. “Yeah, it’s awesome!” he said, beaming.
“Why don’t we go out and grab lunch? We can start to go over the contract.”
Todd didn’t really feel like going out with Hunter again, but he figured he should probably get used to it, and he also just noticed he was starting to feel hungry. “Okay, sure.”
“Nice. I don’t know about you, but I can already use a beer.” Hunter said laughing.
They went to Mexican place that was just a around the block from the office. Hunter surprised Todd by being very dialed in on the details of the account and contract. He’d never had to chance to go beyond his superficial impressions with him, and Hunter clearly wasn’t just a meathead, he knew his stuff.
They ate lunch while talking over the deal and drinking beers. Drinking was the last thing on Todd’s mind, but Hunter wasn’t letting him off the hook, so he nursed one beer while Hunter downed three during the hour. Todd had never seen anyone be able to drink as much as Hunter while showing virtually no signs of impairment, he might as well have been drinking water.
For the most part they stuck to talking about business, discussing how they’d approach managing the client going forward. Todd had the existing relationship, so he’d stay in the lead but start bringing Hunter along to client meetings and then they’d figure out how to split up the work.
As Hunter was pounding down his third drink, he finally shifted the topic back to the previous night. “By the way man, I gotta tell ya, nice fucking job landing Kaity. That’s a quality pull dude.”
“Oh yeah, uh, thanks.” Todd had been anxious about this since before he left for the office in the morning. He figured at some point the topic of Kait was going to come up with Hunter and, just as he felt the previous evening driving home, he wasn’t sure how much he really wanted to know.
Hunter sensed his hesitation and decided to press the issue. “So, how much did Kaity tell you about when we knew each other?”
Todd’s stomach dropped; this was the moment he had been dreading. “Oh. She… she, uh said that she didn’t know you all that well but knew you from classes and hanging out.”
Hunter let out a hearty laugh. “Okay, that’s one way to go I guess.”
After taking a few moments trying to process and decide what to say next, Todd asked sheepishly, “D-did you guys date or something?”
“Date? No, but we definitely hooked up on the regular. It’s a not a big deal,” he paused deliberately before adding, “I’m not sure why she didn’t tell you.”
There it was. Todd had no idea how to respond so he just sat there for a moment staring at his beer glass, which still had about an inch of the amber liquid left. Hunter snapped him out of it with a quick slap on the shoulder, reaching easily across the table with his long arm.
“Hey, like I said, you’re the fucking man bagging Kaity. That girl has one of the hottest bodies I’ve ever seen, and you obviously know what a freak she is in the sack.” Hunter said with a wink and his usual charismatic smile, adding, “You’re a lucky dude getting a piece of that every day.”
Todd’s brain was spinning. After several seconds of silence, he realized it was getting weird, so he spit out, “Yeah, um, thanks. She’s really amazing.”
“You’re welcome, dude, I’m glad she found a nice guy like you.” Hunter replied, sounding very sincere.
The two finished up lunch and headed back to the office. The rest of Todd’s day dragged mercilessly, as he couldn’t think about anything aside from Hunter and Kait. He also had no idea what, if anything, he should do about it. He didn’t see a reason why Hunter would lie about being with Kait. On the other hand, it was Hunter and, as nice as he seemed recently, Todd didn’t really trust him. There was also a non-zero possibility that he was just doing his usual bravado.
Kait hadn’t let on at all that they’d had anything more than casual contact. Of course, she was also in a position where acknowledging messing around with Hunter would expose her as cheating on a serious relationship that Todd was aware of. Maybe she was embarrassed and concerned Todd would judge her? It didn’t seem like a good idea to push the issue.
By the time he headed home, Todd had decided he wouldn’t bring up anything to do with Hunter and just leave the issue alone. Whatever happened was in the past and didn’t matter anyway.
Todd and Kait had a pleasant Friday evening. Kait filled in Todd on all the latest gossip from her school while they ate and watched TV, and Todd was excited to tell Kait about how much they’d likely be getting soon with his commission from work. It was a mild late April day, and the days were getting longer, so they went up on the rooftop terrace of their apartment and had a few drinks, toasting to their future.
They had sex again that night. Kait wanted to fuck doggy-style, which thrilled Todd as they hadn’t tried that since early in their relationship. They quickly remembered why, as Todd slipped out about every third stroke, and they had trouble finding a good rhythm. Kait was getting frustrated, so Todd ended up eating her out from behind, using his tongue on her pussy and ass while rubbing her clit with his fingers. While he was doing that, he couldn’t help but imagine Hunter fucking Kait from behind and railing her with his huge cock. Those thoughts swirled in his head as he pleasured her with his mouth and simultaneously was jerking his own throbbing dick. As Kait cried out in orgasm, Todd pictured Hunter pulling out her pussy and covering her back with a huge load of cum. That visualization, along with Kait’s sounds of pleasure, pushed him over the edge and he came into the condom he was still wearing.
After a brief cooldown, they each got ready for bed and fell asleep cuddling. Kait had another away game tomorrow, so Todd would have the day to himself again. As he was drifting off to sleep, Todd couldn’t help but think about how much had transpired in the last week, and wondered what could possibly happen next?
