Awaken

You slowly open your eyes, finding yourself laying in a bed. The room is barely lit, and you feel a weight on your chest. Reaching out, your fingers touch hair. Someone is laying on your chest. As your eyes adjust, you realize that you’re in a hospital bed, and it’s Lynn on your chest, asleep. A glance around the room reveals that the other girls are there too, also sleeping, in chairs. You gently brush Lynn’s hair with your fingers, and grimace at the pain in your arm as you move.

Lynn stirs awake as you move, looking at you with purple eyes huge in the dim light. She gasps when she sees you’re awake, and hugs you with a happy exclamation. You painfully put your arms around her, and you see over her shoulder that the other girls are waking up too. As they each wake, they have similar reactions, and it’s not long before you’re covered in happy girls hugging and kissing you.

After a few minutes, they back off, and you painfully sit up, your head throbbing with every movement. “So...we won in the end, I guess?”

Laughter all around, with Maya speaking first. “We won, but you nearly killed yourself! Rachel was here, and said that if you had tried to hold that spell for another ten seconds, your brain would be leaking out of your ears. She says you shouldn’t have been able to do any of that.”

“It certainly feels like it. My whole body hurts. My head worst of all. How long was I asleep?”

“You weren’t asssleep, you sssilly man, you were in a coma. For three daysss.”

“No wonder I feel so crappy, then. How about the rest of you? No one seriously hurt? I was worried about Lynn...”

Lynn blushes, “They told me you passed out beside me, holding my hand. I was out for a few hours, but I’m ok, thanks to you.”

Maya nods, “Dimitri was the only real threat, Elys and I dealt with the other two. The AWIO took them for questioning.”

Anna takes your hand, smiling at you. “Please don’t ever do that again, master. We were all so worried about you. We couldn’t bear losing you...” Unable to continue, Anna simply leans closer and kisses your cheek.

“Yeah, I don’t think I will try that trick again. I’d like to keep my brain unboiled, thanks.”

“Rachel alssso sssaid that when you’re on your feet again, she wantsss to bring you to the council. She sssaid itsss overdue, and they want to asssk about what you know.”

You know, “I figured that would come soon. At least I’ll finally meet this weird council. Maybe we can get some answers about this organization that’s attacking us. Anyway, I have one more question for you girls...”

They all look at you curiously.

“How long before we can get out of here? I’m not ballsy enough to start an orgy in a hospital.”
