Awaken

Echo's eyes shoot open and her vision slowly comes into focus. The sun has set and the sky has begun to darken. She's been out for a loooong time.

She finds herself laying on her back in the ditch at the side of the road bordering the forest. She can still feel a pulsing pain in her ankle and wrist, and has a _very _sore throat.

Her vision clears and she finds her view of the evening sky is obstructed by the back-lit head of her traveling companion, Bytch, looking down on her.

"Thanks for all the help in that fight Bytch, you really killed it," Echo says sarcastically as she slowly gets up. Bytch quacks in response.

"Fair enough, not like stupid ducks can do much anyway," Echo says spitefully as she gets to her knees. Bytch stays quiet.

Echo brushes some of the dirt of her clothes, which she is relived and surprised to find she still has on, except for one of her shoulder straps that must have come undone during the "combat." Of course, her dagger and money are nowhere to be found. She finds a large stick nearby and uses it for support as she stands to her feet and scans her surroundings.

She had hoped to reach another village by nightfall but that plan most definitely fell through. It will be completely dark soon and night is never a good time to travel, especially when alone and in unknown territory. She decides the best move is to make a camp for the night. As she comes to this decision, she is suprised to see a small campfire about 100 yards down the path.

She could try and make her own camp, though she doesn't really know much about doing so, or she could risk limping her way over to the existing camp to ask for refuge.
