Author's note

I've been working on this story, on and off, for two years. As I write, I find that I'm really enjoying the slow-roll. So, take this as a warning (or a promise) - there's going to be a long buildup ahead. There will be some minor events that creative massive thrill, and the long-term plan is to watch things get hotter and heavier. Part of the pleasure here is to relish in the chase and try to figure out what the next incremental step might be. Suggestions welcome as comments here.
