Chapter 21 by Caesar25 Caesar25

What's next?

Atzerri (Tier 3)

You and your friends have been summoned by the council for a short briefing before your mission.

Lana (once in the council chambers): Yes masters, what's our mission?

Yoda: Patience young one, we are still waiting for a padawan to join us.

Ranvi: A padawan?

Barriss (enterring the chambers and taking a bow and smiling upon seeing you): Masters! Lana, what are you guys doing here?!

Drek: We were just waiting for the details of our mission. It seems it'll involve you as well.

Fisto: Exactly. Let me explain the situation here. We have received an old Jedi distress signal from a small colony world, called Atzerri.

Ranvi: Atzerri? Never heard of it.

Drek: It's a small Gotal refugee planet, that's the location they mass migrated after their home world was conquered by the CIS.

Barriss: Exactly, and the millions of refugees have somewhat destabilized the planet, essentially nobody holds jurisdiction over Atzerri for now. It's a smuggler's haven. You can find all the criminal syndicates operating there, the Pykes, Black Sun, Exchange, you name it!

Lana: How did they manage to send such a distress signal?

Windu: That's what concerns us. Such signaling devices have been rendered obsolete for centuries.

Fisto: Whatever the intention of the signaler is, you will have to investigate it yourselves.

Barriss: How do I come in the picture?

Windu: You possess a considerable knowledge of the galactic underworld, you are going to help the others with this mission.

Lana: Do we have a location, a name or something to go on?

Fisto: Only coordinates, nothing else. Whoever sent this signal, must have sought only the involvement of the Jedi. If not, they could have just used an ordinary Republic distress signal. We suspect there is something important going on in the refugee sector of Atzerri.

Windu: One more thing before you leave. There's an ongoing battle on Atzerri, the Separatists have tried to conquer the planet recently, due to its proximity to the inner rim key worlds like Coruscant of Corellia. Jedi master Rham Kota has been dispatched there, he's holding the Separatists at bay. If you need anything in particular for your mission, he'll be able to arrange for it.

Drek: Master Kota? He's the Jedi with no clone troopers under his command. Why did you send him?

Fisto: We do not want to alienate the population of Atzerri with a Republic army. That might play into the hands of the Separatists, who claim to invade the planet only to protect it from Republic occupation. Master Kota's military tactics have been unorthodox, but quite successful overall. He was the most capable Jedi for the task, but we cannot burden him with more than the battles he has to wage. He's pinned down as we heard, once there, you might even land him a hand!

Ranvi: We shall leave at once masters!

Once you are on your ship, HK69 welcomes Barriss, after seeing her again:

HK69: Ah, the little green organic returns! Ready for and other round of my interrogation protocol?

Barriss: Sorry, do I know you?

Lana (surprised): Yeah, you've met after Nar Shaddaa, don't you remember him? He's HK69, you have "spent some time" after our mission.

Barriss: Aaaah, yeees, now I remember! Good to see you again HK!

Lana (thinking): Hmm, I have a strange feeling about her ever since she stepped into the council chambers. As if she's Barriss, but she's not her at the same time... And now that she didn't even remember HK after the thorough "interrogation" she received from him... Most concerning... I better keep an eye on her, just in case.

Valare: Her presence truly does seem a little odd. I sense much conflict in her, and... More! She's a nasty little Jedi!

Lana (thinking): Yes, I know as much too! But something gives me a pause about her, now more than before...

Drek: Coordinates for Atzerri are locked, we're jumping to lightspeed!

Atzerri is a temperate planet, with most of the surface covered by marshes and smaller cities. It doesn't have a formal government, mostly the locals live in a lawless environment, which is the perfect place for smugglers and criminal organisations. The black markets on Nar Shaddaa or Tatooine are the most famous, but they are still regulated by the Hutts. The one on Atzerri has no such limitations, you could buy or sell whatever or whoever to whoever and for whatever you wish. If something exists, you can certainly buy it here for the right price. The newly arrived millions of Gotals live in the refugee sector, which is the hotbed for all sorts of extortion and exploitation by the powerful. The only reason they weren't shipped offworld already as slaves to profit from, is because the crime syndicates are fighting their gangwars over the area, to take all the profits for themselves. Until one of them muscles the competition off of the sector, the poor Gotals have a chance to live a free, although **** life there.

Your coordinates are in a small town near the capital city. Master Kota has his base of operations in the capital, you are going to meet him after your mission is complete. Drek lands your ship on a landing platform as close as he can to the coordinates. They point towards an abandoned warehouse. You arrived at the evening and everything is dark in the vicinity.
