Attempt to Escape (Sucessfully)

Still unsteady on your feet, you try to run to the front door. Before you can reach it, you trip over a book on the floor just in time to see a blue flash of light intended for you instead strike a clock on the wall, it’s hands becoming frozen in place. You turn around and take one last look at the witch. She attempts to charge you, but also trips over the books on the floor.

As terrified as you are of her in this moment, you can’t deny that the power and domination she had over you makes your blood boil with desire. You capture her silhouette in your memory, as you undo the locks and throw open the door.

You descend the ladder, occasionally nearing falling through the rotten rungs. You hear yelling and breaking glass as the witch throws a fit that she was defeated. You drop back into the swamp and run through the evening fog until you feel like you’re far enough away from the cabin. Finding the hill you rested on when you started your journey, you plop down on the hill to catch your breath and give your unsteady legs a rest.
