Attack

"I have a song of silence... i will keep them from sounding an alarm, while you dispatch these fiends" Liandra whispered, and her friends agreed with her.

The first few notes drew their attention, but Calcifer stepped into view, and the fiends forgot all about sounding an alarm. They rushed in a maddened charge, but Calcifer was faster, and evoked fulminating arcane blast that fell three of the devils. That didn't stop the others. What did stop them were the blades of Rodrik and Nariel, flashing from the shadows and chopping the grotesque deformation these creatures had for heads. They never had the chance to use their razor sharp teeth. Altima, further back, impaled with arrows the only one of the critters that had the good sense to try to run.

Calcifer was engorged with the one sided slaughter, and had to be physically contained by Nariel to stop laughing. Rodrik returned to the princess side, it was Altima who noted

"These demons, they had severe wounds before we arrived. They have been fighting someone, or something else." Altima words left no room for doubt in her veredict, but her keen huntress eyes didn't detect the shadow demon approaching her shadow.
