Attack the tower!

Moving smoothly along the base of the wall you are able to approach to within 20 paces before one of the men realizes that you are not an Athenian. As he opens his mouth to warn the others you charge forwards letting out a battle cry. Three of the men flee immediately, one of them dropping his end of the stretcher as he turns. The stretcher tips and the wounded soldier hits the ground with a thud and a low moan. At the base of the tower you bash the confused man still holding his end of the stretcher with your shield and send him tumbling over the body of the wounded soldier. With your spear you pierce the side of a man carrying a bundle of arrows into the tower. The spear tip catches the man beneath his ribs and travels deep into his chest, this man drops to the ground gurgling. Leaving the spear imbedded in the man's body you draw your sword and leap through the open doorway.

A man in his 50's with a tablet in his hands starts to direct you to the stair case before he realizes that you are not more reinforcements. His eyes grow big and then the pupils spin up into his head as he faints to the floor. 'So these are the fighting men of Athenapolis' you think to yourself. 'It is no wonder that the city walls fell so easily'.

The room at the base of the tower is a large square room dominated by a set of stairs that start in the middle of the room and wrap around the side walls up to the second level. Stacked along the walls are barrels, crates and chests and on each side of the main staircase there is a small wooden door that are built into the space under the stairs. A keg sits on a small table and a nearly full mug has been set beside a baskets of small loaves and fruit. A pair of thick reinforced doors are propped open but it looks like you could close and bar them from the inside easily. It would keep reinforcements from getting in, but would also trap you inside if you had to retreat.

"Where are those damn arrows?!" you hear a man yell from above. You take a breath and consider your options. Close and bar the doors? Continue the surprise **** up the stairs? Or head back into the boulevard?
