Chapter 5

What Happens at the Palace?
At the Front Gates
The flight didn't take too long, which disappointed MJ a bit. She wanted to study the landscape some more, oh well. As the two approached the city, MJ saw other Tamaraneans flying across.
Okay, so all the people here can fly, good to know, she thought.
As they landed, she noticed something else: Tamaraneans don't wear that much. While no one is naked, and even some of them wear armor of sorts, the clothing they had didn't leave much to the imagination.
As she looked around, she felt her attention drawn to the scantily-dressed women around her. MJ thought Kori was just an outlier, but nope. She was reminded of those old Barbarian Women movies, with most of the cast in skimpy outfits, which led to the next thing she noticed: there were oddly very few men that she could see.
MJ shoved those thoughts out of her head for now, as Kori was leading her to the front gates of a huge palace. The guards, two women carrying what looked like rifles, looked at her with suspicion. However, Kori spoke to them in their language, and they stood back, bowing.
Kori then led MJ past the gates, and for a moment they were alone. “So, when you said you were a princess, I guess it wasn't an exaggeration,” MJ said, chuckling. Kori turned to her, confused. “Why would exaggerate about my status?”
“Sorry, sorry,” MJ quickly said, “All of this still feels surreal to me.”
Kori put her hand on MJ's shoulder, saying "Do not worry, you are my guest here, and I will make sure you are comfortable here. Now, I believe we have a spare room you can use."
