Chapter 7 by ChickLit1987 ChickLit1987

What's next?

At the Bouncing Tiger

[Enter Sorena, Cathie]

Cathie:

How good to see you again my dear friend
Remember all the time we used to spend
Helping each other study at school
Then at camp in that old swimming pool?
It's been too long since we last met in the flesh
I've missed your company, for we've always meshed

Sorena:

I'm glad, dear Cathie, that we are friends
If not for your aid, I'd have surely come to a dark end
You helped me when I did grievously err
My ears are open if there's ought you want to share
Be it the smallest trifle, or gravest danger
You can lean on me anytime, for the remainder
Of my years

[Enter Waitress Setter]

Waitress Setter:

Greetings fair ladies, good day to you
Are you ready to order some food?
Or, if not, perhaps a drink?
But maybe you would like more time to think?

Sorena:

If Cathie is ready than so am I
But, I would not rush my friend to try
Ordering anything over-quick
Slow, and steady does the trick!

Cathie:

Thank you Sorena, I know what to get
I should like to order now before I forget
I'll have the lamb stew, with rice on the side
And some ice-wine to wash it down as I dine

Waitress Setter:

[Jots down the order on a pad]

Right you are Ma'am
I have set your order objects to the values you specified
But what of you madam?
[Turns to Sorena]
What did you decide?

Sorena:

Pasta for me, with meatballs on the side
And some water without fluoride
And bring us please a loaf of bread
Let no one say we weren't well-fed!

[Waitress Setter jots down the order on a pad. Exit Waitress Setter]

Now that on food and drink we have placed orders
Do you want to expound to me on any horrors?

Cathie:

Thank you Sorena, I know our friendships true
But there's no secret for you to review
I was bored at the hotel alone
That is why I decided to phone
My oldest, dearest friend
So we could talk, and bring my boredom to an end

But there is one thing I wish you would do
You have asked me to share with you any blues
And should something come up that merits it
I will certainly impart that bit
But I ask you now to also tell me of your griefs
That I may provide some comfort - perhaps even relief

Sorena:

Thank you, my dear Cathie, since you insist
I will tell you the truth of this
Anthony, my husband of almost three years
Never can seem to hear
The points I put to him

He makes a foolish decision
Denying my requests at revision
When I try to persuade him
He responds by becoming grim
He won't accept the choice was bad
Which in turn drives me mad!

Cathie:

My poor Sorena, these obstacles keep piling before you
I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to
See other couples seem naturally successful, fulfilled
And find that, for your own relationship, so tedious to build

Have you tried each, and every angle?
You may need a new perspective to untangle
This web, in which, you and Anthony find yourselves wrapped!
Are you sure you have the situation properly mapped?

Sorena:

I've told Anthony my views
But he's yet to give me a clue
Of what other perspectives there may be
That might make me worry-free
He says we will be fine
That I should just trust him, and give him time

But I'm not a success object
I am powerless to affect
The situation as it is
All the responsibility is his
I can only leave this in his hands
And hope he proves to be a worthy man!

Cathie:

You certainly seem to be at an impasse
How did you and Anthony come to this, my poor lass?
Have you both been over-stressed? Do you need a vacation?
A romantic getaway to rekindle your relations?

Sorena:

Three years ago, it seems I was so young
Upon the lessons we were taught in school. my mind clung
It was not for love, I married my honey
We were taught to look for good prospects, and he certainly had money
We barely met before we wed
We knew one another
by hardly a thread!

Cathie:

Oh, my poor dear
It will not be easy, I fear
For you, and Anthony to learn
Each other's friendship to earn
But if your union is to be a success
These issues, you must both address

Build friendship first
And hope from that love will burst!

[Enter Waitress Getter]

How do you do?
If the question is not rude
I have here your meals, and goblets [drops off their orders]

Dig in as slowly as snails, or swiftly as hobbits!

[Exit Waitress Getter]

Sorena:

But how do I start
To fix this void that's driven us apart?
We must find common recreation
In hopes it will lead to flirtation
Cathie, once again Thank you
You did save my person, now perhaps my union to!

Cathie:

It is no burden to assist
I am happy to help with all this
If no one helped other's out of trouble
I fear the whole world would quickly stumble
But if you want to thank me all the same
Would dessert be something for which you are game?

Sorena:

Anything for you my dear Cathie
There is a dessert that combines ice cream, and latte
If you're agreeable I'll go pay
The dessert place is just a block away!

Cathie:

Of course Sorena - by all means
This is your turf, and you know best Queen!

[Exit Sorena]

Cathie: [aside]

Divine Developer please watch over
Anthony, and Sorena, help them get closer
Let them find shared activities
For which they both have a healthy proclivity
Let them fall in love for real
And have many hope objects, attractive, and skilled

But more than anything protect Wayne
And bring him home safely to me again

[Enter Sorena]

Sorena:

Are you ready to go?
The greatest dessert scents await your nose!

Cathie:

By all means, my friend
Lead the way, to this dessert place you recommend!

[Exit all]
