At first...

They soon reached the goblins. "...hey, aren't there more than usual right now?" Keith asked nervously as he counted out all of the goblins. "There's at least thirty!"

"Usually, their numbers are only around ten!" Taylor cursed.

"We can't turn back now, or we'll just run into the Beginner's Bane again!" Rin added.

The goblins then noticed them, and shot arrows. "They have archers too!?" Keith asked, returning fire and targeting the goblin archers. "Taylor, look out!"

Kazuma however acted fast. "Wind Breath!" he shouted, knocking the arrows that were about to hit Taylor off course.

"Nice one Kazuma!" Taylor remarked.

"Incoming!" Kazuma shouted, seeing more, but this time Rin stepped in, taking a leaf out of Kazuma's book.

"Air Curtain!" she declared, blocking the arrows with a gust of wind bigger than Kazuma's.

Kazuma whooped, impressed at Rin's use of magic, before Keith announced he had gotten the last goblin archer, so only melee ones were left, and charging right at them. Kazuma smirked and shouted, "Create Water!" As his temporary party questioned his actions, he then gestured towards the newly made water between them and the goblins, and called out, "Freeze!"

Two seconds later, all the goblins were either A. flat on their faces, or B. flat on their asses. "...Yeah! Get them!" Taylor cheered, and he and Kazuma charged, swords out.

"Wahahaha, I was taught that beginner spells weren't worth the points, but the way you use them is amazing!" Rin laughed.

"Really, that was seriously impressive Kazuma!" Taylor remarked. "I can see how you can stand with your party when it came to doing those big quests!"

"That's nothing, just wait until you hear about how I used Create Water to really annoy that Ice Dragon we slew!" Kazuma was blasting a bit as they walked.

"Let's get back to the guild hall while you tell us so we can get our... reward..." Keith started to say, before trailing off, a look of terror in his eyes.

The other three froze, and looked ahead. Right in front of them was the Beginner's Bane, and it clearly knew they were there this time, and was moving right at them. "Shit, we forgot about him!" Rin cried, but Kazuma also noticed something.

The creature was a bit scuffed up since they last saw it, and fresh blood matted its fur. Meaning it had been in a fight since they last saw it. '...the only other people on quests in this area are Kyouya, Cremea and Fio, and Dust, and those three headaches... Can't be the former group, Gram would have made short work of this thing... Which means...' He grit his teeth as he gripped his blade as it charged them, realizing it had attacked Aqua, Darkness and Megumin... And Dust too, but Kazuma didn't give a damn about that. 'Those three better be alright, or after I've killed this asshole, I'm gonna have Wiz raise it just so I can kill it again!'
