At a nice restaurant

It was three days later when Emma and I finally shared a free day. I decided to take her to a nice dinner place that evening. It’s been so long since we’ve been on a date so I wanted to impress her.

Emma was dressed up beautifully, in this gorgeous black dress that exposed her arms, shoulders, and her back. I’ve never seen her wear this one before. She must have got it just for this date!

She was also wearing some makeup that helped to accentuate her beautiful face. She always looked amazing, but she was positively stunning tonight. She put in a lot of effort.

I wonder if that means we could possibly go a bit further tonight…

We sat down at our table, Emma sitting across from me with a cute little smile. We started to look through our menus and man, they have a lot of stuff. A little more expensive than what I would usually pay but hey, it’s okay to splurge for your girlfriend every now and then!

“What are you thinking of getting, babe?” I asked Emma.

“Hmm…I’m thinking some kind of steak.” Emma stated. “Maybe-eep!”

She suddenly let out a cute little squeak. She seemed surprised, her eyes widened as she sat up rigid in her seat. I was about to ask her what was wrong when I suddenly heard it.

A low buzzing sound…

That can only mean one thing! There’s a bee here and it surprised Emma! Damn it! Here I wanted to give Emma a fancy and romantic evening and this bee is trying to get in my way. Why is there even a bee in a fancy restaurant? You think they’d take better care of bugs for how much they charge!

“A-anyways…” Emma stuttered. “I’m, mmmmh, thinking…m-medium rare.”

“Really?” I responded while my eyes looked around for the bee. Based on the direction of the sound it’s somewhere near Emma. She’s clearly uncomfortable because of it so it’s my job as her boyfriend to take care of it! “I personally prefer medium.”

“Mmmmhmmmm…” Emma let out a long-drawn sigh, her eyes darting away from mine.

“Would you like any appetizers?” I asked her.

“Y-yes, mmm…” She shuffled. “I-I’m thinking m-“

She stopped speaking as the waiter suddenly appeared at our table. He was wearing a nice suit and had a notepad and pen in his hand.

“How may I help you two today?” He asked. “Any appetizers?”

This is the perfect time to get the restaurant to take care of the bee problem! I nodded towards Emma. Go ahead and tell him!

“I…I would likeeee…” She took a deep breath, giving a shaky smile with a flushed face.

Is she embarrassed about being bothered by a bee? You don’t need to be considerate babe!

“W-we would like a creamy shrimp appetizer…mmmhh…please.” She softly spoke as she glanced up at the waiter.

“…yes.” The waiter wrote it down. “And for your drink?”

“I would like aaaaa cocktail…” Emma responded, before letting out a light whisper I couldn’t understand.

“And you, sir?” The waiter then turned towards me.

“No appetizer, and some red wine, please.” I smiled.

“I will get on that right away.” The waiter nodded.

As he walked away, I couldn’t help but feel like I was forgetting something. Something slipping my mind…
