Chapter 6 by shirasaya

Where are you going to study?

At a Prestigious Academic Institute

Now reaching your eighteenth birthday, you are finally about to set out on your own.

You have been settled on an academy in a distant land under the jurisdiction of a different duke that instructs and trains arcane mages in the arts and sciences of magic. Having said your goodbyes to your friends and family, you begin your journey to the Keventhor Acadamy for the Practical Study of Arcane Magics! Wizards sure are a wordy bunch aren’t they?

But that aside, Keventhor Academy one of the foremost magical institutions in the entire kingdom, offering a number of courses in every magic school available, and provides education for all races of Sorcerers, Bards, Duskblades, Wizards, Artificers, Warmages and Factotums. Graduates from the academy often go on to become very successful in any direction that they choose, be it adventuring, research, enchanting items or any other magical pursuit that might fit their fancy. The academy has many specialized instructors, most of which are archmages in their own given crafts, and they even have instructors for many of the prestige classes of spellcasters. Incantatrices, Initiates of the Seventh Veil, Mages of the Arcane order, Abjurant Champions, Swiftblades, and a few others all had several members and students there.

The campus was a sprawling landscape of a property, with micro-biomes of differing climes for the purposes of testing various magics and seeing how they interact to different environments. The sheer size of the campus makes the permanent teleportation circles or phantom steeds a must if one is to get anywhere in any reasonable amount of time. It has many shops on campus peddling wares, to the point that nearly any magical item can be found there if one knows where to look. The co-ed dormitory rooms are massive and luxurious, due to the benefits of extra-dimensional spatial magic.

It seemed to be a more lax institution as far as having regulations for regulations sake. Hells, they even had a necromancy club! Basically every reasonably lawful, sentient, race was present. At least the races that weren’t insufferably evil or uncompromisingly “good”.

You are excited to be on your own for once. As the daughter of a nobleman, you were always under some sort of supervision in public. Either your mother, an older brother, a butler or maid, a nanny, someone to make sure that you kept up “proper” appearances in order to not besmirch the “great name” of Clairmont. To be finally free of that would be quite a relief. They didn’t even have the ability to hold an allowance or stipend over her head now, with her accrued wealth equalling nearly half that of her family’s by now.

Now you are headed to new horizons and new possibilities? What new and novel experiences are there to be had out there? You allow yourself to be filled with a giddy enthusiasm, as you prepare for your new journey.

How do you prepare?
